Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This Technology Support Consultant II position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Office of Information Technology Services. The Technology Support Consultant II performs highly advanced technical consulting in the End Users Support section of the OITS, advising and assisting users to solve complex problems. This position also supports the agency anti-virus software, encryption software, and agency ticketing system software.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Provides server and software administration for anti-virus software used throughout KDOT, monitors and ensures that all clients are connected and up to date to protect our agency from known and unknown attacks, and provides troubleshooting and client support to desktops with connection issues.
Serves as the Vmware Administrator for KDOT Workstations, provides and keeps inventory of Virtual Desktops for KDOT District Techs and MIST users, discovers solutions that utilize Vmware view infrastructure, and uses Vsphere environment to build and maintain KDOT images.
Builds base Windows image for KDOT Workstations, automates PC imaging process, maintains up to date inventory of KDOT programs and drivers, updates image as needed, and maintains and updates the Microsoft Deployment and WDS deployment servers imaging installations.
Provides advanced technical assistance to both end users and Bureau personnel, writes and presents recommendations to users and supervisors, and supports various end user software packages. This position also develops and distributes new or revised technical and operational instructions for office technology and workgroup computing systems, mainframe connectivity software, networking operating systems, and local area network messaging systems.
Serves as backup to process 543 and 20B forms requesting action be taken on user accounts, creates and maintains groups associated with each position number of KDOT employees, assigns and/or changes rights for individual user accounts and groups, grants user access to appropriate network drives, provides user access to KDOT Instant Messaging Solution (Office Communicator), and provides technical support to users of Communicator.
Provides support to End User, Service Desk, and District Techs in troubleshooting and configuring scan devices, configures Axis and Savin Scan devices with area specific settings, creates reservations in DHCP console for scanner and print devices, communicates with EPS team to enable SMTP devices to communicate over exchange, and builds a database of Axis scan station configuration files for each office and updates scanner documentation. This position also updates device firmware and retrieves settings via FTP, configures file rights for scan to directory configurations, and clears print queues and troubleshoots escalated print issues.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment.
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Dell Tech Certified.
Experience with Dell Systems.
