What Scientific/Prod Dev contributes to Cardinal Health

Scientific/Product Development is responsible for performing tasks according to work instructions and following standard operating procedures for variety of activities.

Accountabilities in this role

  • Participates in developing new products through implementation and adherence to established design control processes and good documentation practices

  • Demonstrates and applies knowledge of various testing methodologies

  • Assists with resolving testing issues

  • Provides various types of support for engineering activities and other team members

  • Assists with a full range of laboratory technical assignments including but not limited to test method development, medical device inspections and measurements, equipment installation or procurement, validations, reviewing testing standards, ordering supplies, maintaining records

  • Regularly operates benchtop equipment, measurement instruments and gauges

  • Uses considerable judgment in making decisions requiring interpretation and application of guidelines with extensive latitude to specific work situation

  • Maintains a personal laboratory notebook with records of generated testing data and explanation of any procedures or information related to studies that are not presented in an SOP, Protocol or otherwise documented

  • Follows lab safety rules at all times


  • Education or Equivalent: HS diploma required. Associate certificate/degree in computer or electronics technology or equivalent preferred.

  • At least one year working in a Research & Development Environment or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Education: Associate's degree in sciences or engineering

  • Experience: 1-3 years lab experience, preferably in R&D or Quality, regulated environment a plus

  • Required Skills:
    Microsoft office, technical writing, basic lab knowledge (GLP), ability to operate various lab equipment and comprehend internal procedures

  • Must be versatile and adaptable to work on different projects with variety of team members

  • Must have proficient communication skills to interact with engineers and scientists.

  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed

  • Must have excellent attention to detail

About the Role: Our busy Children & Adolescent Behavioral Services (CABS) program is interested in hiring an experienced and reliable Clerk II who can assist with general office duties, including checking in/out clients, answering phones, copying and scanning documents, filing, responding to emails and performing additional administrative duties as required. You will be the first point of contact for clients entering our clinic, so you must have a polite and friendly disposition, and be readily available to greet clients and direct them as necessary. This is a grant position working within the SAMHSA System of Care grant. Location: 3010 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm; Wednesday: 11:00am - 7:00pm; Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm Skills and Experience * Perform various clerical duties which may include client opening and closing procedures, computerizing and reporting data, correspondence and reports, fees, filing, inventory/ordering supplies, photocopying, faxing and deposits. * Provide assistance to the clinical staff/MDs regarding general client needs. * Check in and check out clients. * May serve as receptionist for the program, which includes answering telephone, scheduling client appointments, collecting client payments and directing calls, as needed. * Obtain signatures, copies and information to verify third party coverage and process client billing. * Provide atmosphere of customer service in assuring that clients and co-workers are treated in a friendly and respectful manner. Displays positive attitudes and behaviors in the accomplishment of job duties. * Respond to inquiries, gives appropriate information and referrals, and documents, if necessary. * Acquire and utilize knowledge of LCHD/CHC database; word processing and NextGen software and other equipment commensurate with position. Education, Qualifications, and Certification: * Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. * Requires 1 year of general office experience. * Spanish-speaking a plus.
