Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Technical Editor and Writer/ Principal Technical Editor and Writer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The selected candidate will write, rewrite and/or edit technical and programmatic documents, technical procedure manuals, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively. The following is a list of some of the more common task responsibilities: Writing, rewriting and/or editing documents such as technical reports and technical key proposal artifacts. This includes ensuring documents are written using correct applicable templates, properly formatting text, and ensuring proper use of punctuation and grammar. Responsibilities may also include updating existing templates as required; overseeing the preparation of illustrative materials, and selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts; and conducting quality reviews of materials. Methods of acquiring subject knowledge come from attending technical and other review boards, by interviewing product developers, by observing performance of production methods, and by referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
Basic Qualifications
Tech Editor and Writer: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; OR 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Principal Tech Editor and Writer: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to start
Possess the skill and ability to perform fairly complex tasks with minimal supervision
Possess ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents
Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task
Preferred Qualifications
Current active DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to facilitate/support review boards
Experience with XML, Arbor text and/or SGML
Ability to stand up a Release Library and experience verifying that changes identified during board reviews are incorporated into documents and the Release Library
Generating BOEs
Possess an understanding of and ability to apply military technical order principles, concepts, practices, and standards
Have existing knowledge of military aircraft technical order editing/writing processes
Salary Range: $55,100.00 - $82,700.00Salary Range 2: $67,800.00 - $101,600.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
