Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services, this position is accountable for the planning, organizing, oversight, implementing and controlling of Pharmacy technicians, and USP 797 & USP 800 compliance. Utilizing delegated responsibility and authority, the incumbent ensures the services provided under his/her direction obtain the objectives of the department and meet the needs of the patients, physicians, pharmacy employees, other health care workers, students, and third parties within existing professional, legal, and financial guidelines. Oversees the daily activities of certified pharmacy technicians in the IV room.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Participates as part of the pharmacy team to promote a positive work environment and employee satisfaction by keeping staff informed of relevant information, policies & procedures in a timely basis, providing clear written & oral instructions, listening to staff concerns and ideas, and resolving conflicts.
Knows TJC, OSBP, USP 797 & 800 standards and enforces them with staff.
Monitors and enforces procedures to assure compliance.
Ensures that technical staff complete all tasks and responsibilities by the end of assigned shift.
Ensures completion of environmental logs for clean room, glove boxes, chemo room, cleaning, compounding records, repackaging equipment, etc.
Works to improve quality and consistency within the technician staff.
Assists with staffing, checking in department to assess aseptic technique and ensure accuracy of process and staff.
Ensures an accurate, up to date training manual.
Serves as a Super User for operational equipment and systems.
Takes initiative of self-development; demonstrates an ability to learn on the job.

Education Required: High School completion / GED
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Certified Pharmacy Technician as demonstrated by certification from an organization that has been recognized by the board. National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT Certification) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a "Certified Pharmacy Technician".
PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, preferred
Experience:
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Hospital Pharmacy or Home Infusion Technician Experience
Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A
Preferred experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of IV Room experience including chemotherapy
Other experience requirements: N/A
Knowledge/Skills
Understanding of USP 797 / 800 guidelines.
Understanding of IV room workflow
Proficiency with computer systems and PC applications is required.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy. Must be familiar with pharmacy software.
The ability to assimilate and effectively utilize a broad range of pharmaceutical and medical data, procedures, and terminology is required.
The ability to organize and supervise pharmacy operations and associated personnel is a necessity with minimal direction.
The incumbent must demonstrate evidence of skill in pharmacy operations.
The ability to act as a liaison between professional and nonprofessional personnel is required.
