Sanding Team Leader

DESCRIPTION:

This is a 12-hour rotating day shift position working 6am to 6pm. The Team Leader will lead the Sanding crew through their daily production process. This position delegates multiple tasks to shift employees on a daily basis and will also oversee the operations of the book saw and the sander while they are in production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely, accurately, and efficiently relieve any position in Sanding

• Perform and document all quality checks for the Sanding Line

• Facilitate start of shift safety and production meetings and solicit feedback from crew members

• Inspect quality of material and packaging

• Ensure that productivity is maximized

• Monitor clean up in and around your department to keep the area neat, clean, and safe

• Promotes teamwork with crew members and with other shifts by relaying departmental goals and accomplishments daily

• Trouble-shoot any mechanical or electrical downtime issue with the operator and maintenance

• Observes safe work practices in compliance with the safety policy

• Manages/conducts/verifies proper lock out tag out per company policy

• Performs accident investigations with accurate details regarding any accident or near miss

• Observes safe work practices in compliance with the safety policy

• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision

• Follow all established standard operating procedures

• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary

• Perform other tasks assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus

• Previous supervisory experience a plus

COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to read a tape ruler and micrometer

• Able to use a computer

• Good communication skills

• Good personal skills

• Good organizational skills

• Operate a 550 or 120 forklift regularly

• Operate an aerial lift occasionally
