Job Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned: Organizes and coordinates the work flow by ensuring specimens are handled in a timely fashion to meet the needs of the other lab sections and customers. Monitors daily operations and delegation of duties # reallocated resources as needed Assures quality by monitoring the section compliance with all regulating agencies; preparing and reviewing various documentation tools and operational manuals. Acts as a resource for the entire Deaconess Regional Laboratory and provides on-site training. Coordinates the following duties in the supervision of the section: Performs employee performance appraisals Addresses employee issues and performs coaching and corrective action with employees Sets up interviews and gives input on hiring Conducts section meetings Maintains attendance records Schedules employees and assigns workstations Ensures adequate supplies Ensures correct payroll Maintains regulatory records on employees Monitors compliance of employees for all safety regulations Competencies: If applicable and not listed below, please refer to the department for required competencies. Models expected behavior for staff Effectively addresses performance management topics (coaching, development # discipline) Assists as Manager#s designee when the managers or directors are unavailable Coordinates staffing and delegates work assignments appropriately Provides direction and training to staff Demonstrates fiscal responsibility # SECTION SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Central Processing Performs central processing duties in accordance with company policy Prepares training and competency materials for the section and trains Central Processing employees Monitors daily operations and delegation of duties # reallocated resources as needed Responsible for identifying U.S., CLIA regulated, reference labs performing any test requested by any Deaconess Health System physician Obtains pricing, test requirements, and shipping information Ensures appropriate billing of patient Oversees training, competency and regulatory compliance for Package and Shipping Microbiology Processing Performs processing duties in accordance with company policy Prepares training and competency materials and oversees the training program for the specimen processing area Resolves client questions/issues with regard to sample collection, specimen and/or order selection, and processing Interfaces with reference laboratories to ensure appropriate ordering, transport, and result receipt Oversees training, competency and regulatory compliance for Package and Shipping Outreach Phlebotomy Performs phlebotomy duties in accordance with company policy Floats to all locations on frequent basis Monitors daily operations and delegation of duties- reallocates resources as needed Maintains competency in processing and registration functions Inpatient Phlebotomy Performs phlebotomy duties in accordance with company policy Monitor the QC for ACT Works in staffing on a frequent basis Reallocates resources cross campus as needed Outreach Billing Performs monthly AR reporting Evaluates Client financial status and establishes payment plans Oversee payment and write-off activity to ensure all adjustments are processed in a timely manner and documented appropriately Monitor section work queue completion Audit client fee schedules on an annual basis Required Certifications/Licenses: Required- High school diploma Preferred- Associate Degree or higher level of education with a minimum of 3 years of section specific experience Proof of education will be required in the form of authenticated copy of an original diploma or transcripts Why Choose Deaconess?
