The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard's Technology Center and is Bard's largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions.


Summary of Position with General

Responsibilities:

Leads and manages diverse individuals and teams to produce high quality products while increasing efficiency, minimizing scrap, reducing cost and enhancing bottom line performance.

Essential job Functions:

Managing Employees:

  • Represent management, communicate Values, Quality and Safety policies, Strategic Initiatives, plant goals, policies and information updates.

  • Develop high performance teams in order to meet key metrics which include quality, efficiency, quality and safety.

  • Performance evaluation and management (including annual performance reviews, performance improvement plans, disciplinary process.)

  • Handle all day-today employee relations issues with support from Human Resources.

  • Create and manage work schedules

  • Manage Kronos time system, track vacation, PTO and overtime.

  • Hiring (interviewing and new hire orientation)

  • Ensure compliance with on-going training requirements for self and team.

  • Serve as a mentor/resource for Team Leader trainees.

Operations:

  • Manage product through entire manufacturing process utilizing the Management Operating System to drive continuous improvement.

  • Ensure a safe work environment (reinforce safety culture, Hazcom, incident investigation and follow up, ensure stretching and job rotation, support ergonomic initiatives, etc.)

  • Assure compliance to our quality system

  • Manage all regular and temporary headcount requirements

  • Support and execute new product introductions, transfers & Cost Improvement Programs

  • Coordinate internal quality review board (MRB) to find root cause and develop solutions if quality issues are discovered.

  • Develop and meet department budget requirements. Ensure accuracy of supporting documentation, i.e. standards, routings and spending history.

  • Approve all standard changes to bill of materials and routings made by engineers.

  • Management in conjunction with planner's, of shop floor inventory

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment for at least 10 direct reports.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to coach/mentor others.

  • Experience in successfully driving production of quality products in a way that meets business goals and operations metrics.

  • Demonstrated understanding of business budget for ones area.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and

Knowledge:

JDE/ERP experience a plus.

The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions Summary of Position with General Responsibilities: Performs any combination of tasks involved in the manufacture and assembly of medical devices as well as setting up, operating, performing maintenance on and troubleshooting equipment. Essential job Functions: * Responsible for following safety policies and procedures. * Responsible for following all required GMP's and applicable manufacturing procedures. * Perform a variety of duties to assemble all types and sizes of product, components, and sub-assemblies using a variety of standard and specialty assembly machines or hand operations. May be required to press, bond, solder, flare, strip, clamp, sand, weld, mount/takedown or inspect for appearance, gauging of parts by "no-go" or "go" gauges and set fixtures. * Shows the ability to consistently meet daily production goals while building a high quality product, part or subassembly to specification. * Works with Production Clerks to help facilitate inventory accuracy. * Follow department procedures on material replenishment. * Provides assistance to MOB engineering including MRB investigations and ESM production. * Assists in training of manufacturing personnel. * Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance team performance. * Must be able to work flexible or extended hours and report to work on a regular, punctual basis. * Ability to get along with people and be able to work in a team environment. * Other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: * Must be able to successfully demonstrate mechanical aptitude either through testing and/or job related experience, technical training or certification where required. * Ability to read, write, interpret, comprehend and consistently follow specifications written in English. * Ability to perform basic math calculations and use measuring devices and tools. * Ability to successfully demonstrate visual accuracy through company-approved program. * Meets or exceeds dexterity requirements. * Willingness to rotate into different tasks and responsibilities * Displays a positive attitude. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED, plus a minimum of one year of prior related work experience in manufacturing. Physical Demands: Repetitive use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and/or perform repetitive hand/wrist movement Ability to work under magnification for long periods of time Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time Able to lift 35 lbs (over 35 with assistance) Work Environment: May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.
