What you'll do

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and directing aerospace factory employees engaged in the laminating and assembly of composite aircraft components across multi-functions and/or multi-shifts. The Team Leader will emphasize total employee involvement through team building and accountability, skill development and technical training, quality focus, cost management, delivery schedule and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide daily leadership in an aerospace composite factory work environment and coordinate all required activities associated with an assigned product line(s), work centers and manufacturing departments.

  • Develop and maintain for the factory team a set of clearly defined performance objectives that involve the following areas of individual and team accountability: workplace safety, quality, cost, schedule, process, attendance, cleanliness, and HAZMAT handling & disposal, housekeeping, performance measurements and timely problem resolution.

  • Develop and deliver plans that meet internal and external customer schedule requirements.

  • Prepare and implement plans that best optimize the use of available resources.

  • Develop innovative problem resolution processes and encouraging new ideas and methods; utilize standard aerospace problem solving tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.

  • Ensure adequate resources are available for the team to produce products that meet established quality, schedule and delivery objectives.

  • Plan with information from your team, program management, production planning & control, purchasing, quality assurance, engineering and finance the daily and/or weekly activities and priorities

  • Develop and utilize Leadership Standard Work (LSW) to ensure all items above are consistently and continually addressed.

  • Develop competencies within the product lines, work centers and/or department that focus on:

o Technical skills and continuous manufacturing process improvement

o Developing an understanding of our overall business (cost and asset) management objectives

o Team communication and problem solving techniques and personal motivation to achieve requirements established for Key Performance Indicators in quality, schedule and cost performance

  • Work to ensure that we are continually improving manufacturing processes and procedures, with technical assistance from tooling, engineering, finance, and materials.

  • Manage factory hourly personnel:

o Comply with government regulations and the company's Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action policies,

o Regularly assess and provide feedback regarding performance to employees

o Maintain a safe workplace

o Ensure all training requirements are compliant f to customer and internal requirements

o Supporting of training and/or retraining activities supporting internal and customer requirement including computer or instructor education, hands-on instruction and demonstration of proficiency, and documentation of on-the-job training (OJT) activities

o Work with shop stewards for timely problem and grievance resolution, development of performance improvement plans and, where necessary, administration of disciplinary action.

About you


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or any related technical related discipline

  • +5 years of factory supervisory experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree

  • Certified Composite Technician w/ +8 years of factory experience

Required Qualifications:

  • More than 3 years of experience in leadership positions (Lead Man, Team Leader or Supervisor) in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, problem analysis, potential problem analysis, decision analysis and planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skilled in coaching, team-building, business measurement, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Certified Composite Technician

  • Aerospace experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • IT skills (Microsoft Office, MRP Systems)

Candidates must be U.S. Persons with the ability to pass a government background investigation for a DoD Security Clearance at the secret level. Candidates will also be subject to an employment background investigation to include but not limited to: criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness. The clearance must be maintained during the time of employment.

VIEW JOBS 11/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-12T00:00 ROLE SUMMARY A Biotherapeutics Pharm Sci Team Leader (PSTL) leads multiple interdisciplinary Pharmaceutical Sciences Project Teams (PSPTs). The PSTL also acts as the single point of accountability for Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTx PS) on the Asset or Program teams for the assigned projects. The Biotherapeutics PSTL may be assigned to lead projects at any development stage from discovery stage to Proof of Concept (PoC), depending on the needs of the portfolio. In addition, the candidate will interface with some Research Units (RU) and Biomedical Design (BMD) either as an extended leadership member or as a point of contact to provide input on strategies, new technologies and projects. This will require on-site presence at RU/BMD for active listening and discussion and openness to new way of thinking/execution. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES The individual will be responsible to engage other subject matter experts as needed. 1) Leading BTx PS Project Teams, which are comprised of scientists from the key disciplines in BTx PS and are responsible for Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) strategy development and plan execution for the assigned projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and of high quality. 2) Represents BTx PS as a member of the Asset/Global Medicine Team; responsible to drive overall developmental strategy for the projects, which include both internal and in-licensed projects 3) Working with key stakeholders across commercial, clinical and Pfizer Global Supplies (PGS) to define the product concept and lead the operational planning for assigned projects 4) Interfacing with Drug Safety, Dev Ops, Global Supply Chain, and Clinical to develop a clinical supply and administration strategy. 5) Acting as a technical leader and ambassador for BTx PS to asset/Global Medicine team, governance bodies and other key stakeholders; representing the BTx PS viewpoint to greater Pfizer and educating stakeholders on BTx PS technologies, opportunities, risks, and work processes 6) Contributing effectively to the BTx Project Team, ensuring productive two-way communication and alignment of plans between PharmSci and other Lines or Therapeutic Area Strategies 7) Ensuring effective leadership of BTx projects through appropriate governance structures, as well as managing interactions between PSPT and Co-Development teams to plan and execute the transition of assigned projects to full-scale commercial manufacture and launch 8) Working with Procurement and BTx PS Outsourcing Specialists to manage interactions with third party manufacturers and other vendors necessary for the projects 9) Ensuring that the PSPT maintains accurate and timely PS project plans, resource forecasts, annual budgets, and related deliverables for the assigned projects 10) Contributing to continuous improvement efforts within BTx PS and across greater Pfizer through such activities as Limited Duration Teams, "Lessons Learned" exercises, and mentoring other PSTLs and team members 11) Lead out-licensing of projects or working with an external partner for in-licensing a candidate. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum: Master's level education in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or an analytical chemistry-based discipline plus 15 years of experience in drug development; demonstrated success in leading scientific teams; excellent oral and written communication skills. Desirable: Doctorate level education plus 12 or more years in drug development. The successful candidate will be capable of independent problem solving and working with minimal direction under most circumstances.
