JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Team Leader/Group Leader

STATUS: Hourly

LOCATION: Jackson

DEPARTMENT: All Departments

REPORTS TO: Department Supervisor or Manager

PURPOSE:

Team leaders/group leaders will provide leadership, motivation, and direct daily activities of team members to support the achievement of team, department and plant goals and objectives. Team leaders/group leaders will assist and support the manager/supervisor with the day-to-day operation of their area of responsibility and/or other assignments of the plant management team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assure compliance to all safety, quality, production, materials and plant policies and procedures.

  • Support team members in daily work activities to meet the needs of clients as needed. Will include performing the work of the team members.

  • Will organize and direct job rotation programs in their area of responsibility and will coordinate cross functional training to support job rotation.

  • Has excellent verbal communication skills and serves as a conduit of information between assigned area and other parts of the plant.

  • Computer literate to include Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite of products.

  • Available to work assigned work schedule shift/hours as necessary to meet client/customer requirements as directed by plant management.

  • Ability to make decisions based on available information and policies/procedures within the designated area of responsibility.

  • Provide leadership and demonstrate behaviors that align with plant expectations and the Company's CITE Principles.

  • Successfully complete all training required to meet the needs of the team (and applicable job rotations). Training is completed to keep the skill set current to meet the needs of the team, department, and plant.

  • Assist in training of hourly team members.

  • Encourage team members and promote a positive attitude.

  • Manage daily activities to complete the PMs for all equipment, tools, and support equipment within assigned area.

  • Assure that the team maintains daily 5s/ clean-up expectations for area of responsibility.

  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM and cross functional teams' events as requested.

  • Travel as needed when conducting or participating in training events.

  • Demonstrate a general knowledge of all jobs in the department.

  • Understand all applicable machinery and equipment in assigned area of responsibility.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by plant management.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct morning DIM meetings.

  • Make decisions in the absence of the supervisor.

  • Assign work to team members, including daily job assignments.

  • Provide immediate feedback to employees when their performance falls below expected levels. Retrain as necessary.

  • Provide input to supervisors for employee performance evaluations.

  • Enforce all company and plant rules including adherence to CITE principles and supporting values.

  • Make sure clean at end of day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

Education, Experience and Skills.

  • High School Diploma/ GED required, in lieu of education extensive knowledge of all processes associated within the scope of the respective team may be considered.

  • Manufacturing/work experience and willingness to learn to operate required positions in the team assigned.

  • Track record of successful team support, meeting work performance expectations and commitment toward continuous improvement.

  • Experience performing duties in a working in team's environment committed to positive performance and SQDC goal achievement.

  • Demonstrated behavior that supports the company's core values and CITE principles.

  • Has excellent communication skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common daily business documentation and financial reports. Ability to listen and communicate with managers, team members, customers, and clients to promote effective responsiveness to questions, concerns, or complaints, within the AWC business environment.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement interpretation to record performance activity of team/teams assigned.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collect/interpret data; establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend/implement solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, and crouch. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift to 20 lbs. and occasionally required to lift to 50 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical indoor and outdoors manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and hearing protection is required in areas of the production floor. Safety glasses are always required on the production floor. Other forms of PPE may be required depending on the work/task being performed. Occasional weekend or off-shift work required.
