Job Responsibilities

About Coastal Regional Center

Coastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

General supervision by the Maintenance Director. Ability to act independently using good judgement and discretion in the performance of duties.

Perform duties with minimal errors. Ability to motivate a work team.

1.Oversees, plans, assigns and inspects daily work of the Skilled and Semi-Skilled Craftsman.

2.Collects data of all work projects and submits data to preventive maintenance for record keeping.

3.Reviews, inspects, and makes recommendations concerning all jobs performed by outside contractors for the main campus.

4.Ensures proper supplies, equipment and tools are available and accounted for to complete assigned work.

5.Maintains vehicle inventory and schedules preventative service on all campus vehicles.

6.Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis for basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade.

Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices used in the designated trade. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work.

Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor.

Ability to supervise subordinates. Ability to plan operations. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
