A team lead engineer in the platform/cloud infrastructure team you are responsible for managing the engineers and helping to build the interface and frameworks on which all of grubhub's services are built and operate. This team is at the core of implementing distributed, scalable system foundations and designing for 5 9's uptime and horizontal scalability. Candidates in this space should have a strong desire to drive innovation by building feature rich, scalable systems and operational UI's that are conducive to evolution.

Some Challenges You'll Tackle

  • Help build the UI/frameworks to support multi datacenter, performant and highly available services.

  • Use and help drive the building, requirements, and usage of a continuous delivery environment interfaces and pipelines

  • Communicate with leadership, product owners, other technologists, and users to create working software based on an understanding of business and technical priorities.

  • Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies. We are always improving the process of building software; we need you to help contribute.

You Should Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Programming or Engineering related field

  • 7+ years experience building highly-scalable consumer-facing applications(e-commerce preferred)

  • 2+ years in a leadership capacity or 5+ years experience with leadership responsibilities

  • Provides mentorship and coaching on career growth and development in a formal setting

  • Manages a team of Engineers and provides mentorship and coaching on career growth for People Management responsibility

  • Experience working with Java, C#, or a similar modern object-oriented language.

  • Strong knowledge of Javascript (3+ years) and related frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Express, etc.)

  • Experience architecting, designing, and developing a usable interface(s) for tool management or monitoring

  • AWS experience, or similar cloud based offerings.

  • Automated testing experience applicable for UIs/services (karma, jasmine, junit/testing, protractor, etc.)

  • Strong fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)

  • Knowledge or experience developing highly-available distributed systems (5x9's uptime etc.), Hot-hot multi-datacenter distributed services

  • Familiarity with eventually consistent databases (Cassandra/MongoDB/CouchDB), distributed and or relational databases is desired

  • Familiarity or experience with Docker, or similar containerized solutions and Mesos or Kubernetes is desired.

We develop service-oriented architecture (SOA) and other integration solutions to enable information sharing and management between business partners and disparate processes and systems, and we deliver technology enablement to support CIO services transformation. We work with clients who want to improve their ability to react on digital world and enable scalability, remove performance barriers, enable innovation, and modernize core systems and reimagine their business with SAP digital solutions.
