Note: This is a multilevel position that can be awarded as Mission Assurance Quality Engineer or Manager I: Mission Assurance Quality Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and education required of this position.
Mission Assurance Quality Engineer
The candidate will provide AMRAAM Programs with in-depth knowledge of the Quality Management System requirements to support Development efforts for the Program. They will work closely with the external customer and industrial partners. They will help develop metrics to continuously monitor the program's health, develop objective evidence to support Customer deliverables, and support supplier selection and requirements flow down.
The Mission Assurance Quality Engineer will work within integrated teams to instill process rigor throughout the development environment.
The Mission Assurance Quality Engineer will analyze, control and improve product quality by conducting the following activities:
Develop partnerships with senior leaders, IPTs, and functions throughout the Program to define steps necessary to implement quality strategies
Be able to translate, analyze, and prioritize customer needs, contractual requirements, and company policy and objectives into quality performance standards and operational definitions for the affected performing organizations
Work with the IPTs to define Key Product/Process Characteristics to ensure appropriate actions are taken to control product variation
Integrate performance and conformance verifications, such as First Articles and audits to confirm contract and drawing compliance to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services
Lead and perform root cause analysis, facilitate corrective actions, implement closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods
Minimum of four (4) years Engineering experience: Manufacturing, Quality, Aerospace and Defense
Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with industry partners
Ability to identify root cause and initiate/implement effective short-term and long-term corrective actions
Ability to understand drawings and specifications, GD&T and limited dimension drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and demonstrated capability in Basis of Estimate (BOE) preparation
Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements, customer requirements, and product requirements into product or service quality requirements understood by all stakeholders
Required Education: B.S. in Engineering, Science, Technology or Mathematics
Proficient in the IPDS Gate Review process, Configuration Review Board, RFRACAS reviews, and Risk Review Board processes and is knowledgeable in the quality role in these boards
Demonstrated capability to define, develop, plan and execute the quality management system
Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with DCMA industry partners
Experience in product development and usage of quality metrics that will generate discussions and actions to improve processes, designs, materials or measurement systems
Ability to perform and assess Hardware Pedigree Reviews, Consent to Build and Consent to Ship Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Test Review Boards as they pertain to Development hardware
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly technical, dynamic and collaborative work environment
Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
Certification in Six Sigma, American Society for Quality (ASQ), Mission Assurance (Internal candidates)
Knowledge of Supplier Quality Engineering
Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics
Proficient in the use of Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
