Brief Job Overview/Summary

The School of Education is seeking to fill an annually renewable, non-tenure track, Teaching Specialist position, with an educator from a variety of human development related fields to teach courses in the Education and Human Development Program. The position will start in September of 2024.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Offer courses in Education & Human Development and the General Studies curriculum
  • 32 credits hours (TCH) per Academic Year
  • Support student field-based experiences, including placement, visitation, monitoring, and program assessment

  • Serve as an advisor to students

  • Provide service to the University, community, and/or profession

  • Perform other duties as designated by the Dean and/or the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

  • Support Stockton University's diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission

  • Participate in recruitment activities

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program within the field of human development or other related field

  • A minimum of three years experience working in the field of education, human development, social work, sociology, and/or psychology

  • Experience supporting field-based experiences (e.g., placement, visitation, monitoring, and program assessment)

  • Demonstrated teaching skills, including the ability to engage effectively with small and large groups of individuals

  • Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research related to human development

  • Experience working cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations

  • Capacity to offer guidance and advice regarding career interests relevant to the field of human services

  • Experience working with diverse populations, age groups, and abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABD or Doctoral Degree

  • Experience teaching/working in different instructional modalities (e.g.,. face-to-face, hybrid, and online)

  • Experience teaching in a college or university setting

  • Experience teaching or teaching-like work in the field of human development
