Position Summary:

Antioch University Graduate School of Counseling, Psychology, and Therapy is seeking a full-time Teaching Faculty in Master's in Clinical Psychology Program at the Santa Barbara campus. This position is involved in training prospective Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Clinical Counselors.

As a member of the MA in Clinical Psychology program's team and under supervision of the Chair, Teaching Faculty members have responsibility primarily for engagement in student learning through scheduled University course instruction and related student advisement. Other activities in support of student learning may also be part of the specified responsibilities. As Teaching Faculty, responsibilities may include but are not limited to: teaching, advising, and assisting in curriculum development within the program as well as committee responsibilities within the University.

Other responsibilities include student recruitment and retention efforts, and participating in program development and assessment in conjunction with the MACP team. Teaching Faculty participate in the leadership of academic efforts to provide an excellent university environment for student learners and are expected to have a working knowledge of effective teaching methods. Demonstrated competence in clinical training requirements leading to California Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counselor licensure and any of the following areas is highly desired: cultural competence and foundational theories in clinical practice, family systems, child development and psychotherapy, somatic psychotherapy, research methodology, psychological assessment, psychopathology, and/or clinical supervision and practicum. The candidate's continued clinical practice is encouraged as an important mentorship component.

Responsibilities:

  • Engagement in Student Learning: Direct instruction of 36 quarter units across the academic year.

    Conducts workshops on additional topics as needed. Serves as mentor for students in professional development and clinical training.

  • Engagement in Institutional Citizenship: Serves on campus, school, and university wide committees.

    Coordinates with admissions committee in reviewing applications and interviewing of candidates. Serves as mentor to adjunct colleagues. Facilitates in the collection of data for program evaluation and accreditation processes. Participates in all aspects of the MACP program including the development of workshops or special events, and student, alumni, and faculty surveys.

  • Other duties as needed: Participates in curriculum development and revision, grant-writing, and other departmental initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by Chair.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Terminal graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field (e.g., PhD, Ed.D., Psy.D., D.S.W.), ABD or MA with 3+ years of significant and relevant post-graduate experience.

  • California licensure as LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or Psychologist

  • 2+ years of experience in teaching (both online and on-ground preferred)

  • Professional portfolio showing experience in area of expertise

  • Experience with program evaluation and assessment

  • Experience in working with adult students and a diverse faculty and student body with strong multi-cultural competencies

  • Experience in technology mediated education and information literacy

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, meet goals in a timely manner and be a positive member of the Antioch community

  • A strong commitment and understanding of the Antioch University mission and student centered learning, especially adult learners and non-traditional students.
