Florida State University Panama City (FSU PC) offers Professional Communication programs at both the bachelor's and master's degree levels as part of the FSU College of Applied Studies. These Professional Communication programs incorporate a breadth of course topics across the Communication field with emphases or majors in Corporate and Public Communication, Marketing Communication, Organizational Communication, and Applied Strategic Communications. The Professional Communication Department also offers a multi-disciplinary, online Master's program in Organizational Management and Communication, which combines the fields of communication and psychology/applied behavior analysis to provide graduate students mentorship and training in research, theory, and strategies for effective organizational management and impactful leadership in any industry.

Responsibilities

This position will be on-campus at FSU Panama City in Panama City, FL and will consist of both in-person and online instruction and program service responsibilities. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and teach in-person and online courses as assigned and based on qualifications for the undergraduate and graduate Professional Communication programs

  • Maintain a high standard of instruction

  • Mentor students

  • Assist the program with curriculum development

  • Engage in teaching innovations and oversight of student projects

  • Participate in service to the Program and Campus

  • This position has opportunities for engagement in additional research, though it is not a required component of this teaching faculty position.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Communication (or related field) from an accredited institution (ABD will be considered, though the degree must be conferred by the start date of the position), expertise specific to courses in our programs, and experience teaching at the college or university level.

Preferred Qualifications

We especially seek candidates who have a minimum of two years of experience teaching at the university level (in-person and/or online). Strong preference will be provided to candidates who can teach a breadth of course topics, such as Digital Media Campaigns and Communication, Multimedia Techniques, Communication Technologies, Research Methods and Data Analytics, and at least one other program area (e.g., Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Speech Communication, or Communication Theory). Preference will also be given to candidates with applied experience in the Communication field specific to courses in our programs.

We are actively seeking applicants for this non-tenure-track, teaching faculty position. This position is being advertised as a 9- or 12-month, full-time, specialized teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. The salary will be competitive, and the rank of the appointment will depend on level of experience and qualifications.
