Teaching Assistant- Surface Anatomy And Acupuncture Point Location Class

Position: Part-time, non-exempt

Time: Thursdays 1:00pm-4:30pm

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teaching Assistant to join our team to assist the instructor in Acupuncture Point Location class. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructor and students in mastering the essential skills of locating acupuncture points and surface anatomy landmarks accurately. Your expertise in acupuncture theory, point location techniques, human anatomy, and strong communication skills will contribute to the success of the class.

Qualifications:

Must be PA L.OM. licensed and a degree in Chinese Medicine from ACAHM accredited program. In practice for 5 or more years. Previous experience teaching or supervising is preferred. Should have experience with Microsoft Office/Google applications; experience with email and Internet communications. Proficient in visual identification of Chinese medicinal herbs and their therapeutic use. Proficient knowledge of TCM patterns, diagnosis and formulas. CPR certification and PA Child Abuse Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: A minimum of a masters degree in acupuncture or Traditional Chinese medicine is required, doctoral degree in acupuncture preferred. Students and graduates of a Doctor of Acupuncture program (DAc or DAOM) will be considered before master's level graduates.

• Acupuncture Expertise: In-depth knowledge and understanding of acupuncture theory, meridian systems, and acupuncture point location techniques are essential.

• Practical Experience: Prior experience in teaching or assisting in acupuncture point location classes, workshops, or clinical settings is preferred but not required.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain complex concepts and techniques to students with varying levels of understanding.

• Patient and Supportive: Ability to provide patient guidance and support to students as they develop their acupuncture point location skills.

• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to assist in preparing instructional materials, coordinating activities, and managing student records.

• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with the instructor, students, and other teaching assistants to create a positive and productive learning environment.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in acupuncture point location demonstrations and assessments.

• Professionalism: Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor while interacting with students, colleagues, and staff members.

• Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with advancements in the field of acupuncture.

• Providing education to interns

• Measuring clinical competence of interns

• Assuring that all legal and safety guidelines are followed

• Supporting the function of the Institute Student Clinic
