The Environmental Management Department is looking for one continuing MSEM or ENVS student to be the Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Accelerated Intro to GIS (ENVM 673) course during the Fall 2024 semester.
ENVM 673 serves as an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It is designed to provide students with basic concepts, principles, and applications of GIS and their use in the decision-making process pertaining to natural resource management. Students will perform practical exercises using ESRIs ArcGIS software, the industry standard in GIS applications.
Responsibilities:
Reviewing student assignments (The instructor will provide rubrics and guidance for grading)
Helping students with problem sets, assignments, and/or questions
Prompt return of graded assignments (no more than one-week turnaround)
Summarizing student performance for instructor (common mistakes, etc.)
Holding office hours and/or being available at other times to help students
Schedule
It is anticipated that the TA will work an average of 5 hours per week for 8 weeks per semester, for a total of 40 hours per semester, during Fall 2024
Compensation
Undergraduate Students: $18.67/hr
Graduate Students: $19.67/hr
