SUMMARY:
A Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District Two-Way Dual Language Program advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model. Our teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals. Our Teachers demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity; they collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

    Arizona Early Childhood Certificate, Birth to Age-8
    Grades 4th

    Grades 9th

    Arizona Secondary Certificate
    Bilingual (Spanish) Endorsement
    Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE TEACHER HIRING PROCESS:
Upon submission of a successfully completed application, you will be invited to respond to a one-way video screener.
Screening Submissions are not required but are highly encouraged.
Video Submissions are viewed by hiring managers at school sites.
When applying for a TWDL position one of the questions must be answered in Spanish
Based on the initial screening of your application and video responses, you may be invited to an interview (Zoom or In-person) at a school matching the employment preferences you listed in your online application.
Invitations to interview may come via phone or email request.
At this time, TUSD interviews are conducted via Zoom.
If you are successful in receiving an offer of employment from a school site, the school and Human Resources will be in communication with an official offer and onboarding information.
If you are not successful in receiving an offer after an interview, your application will remain active and available for review in all listed vacancies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE:
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization

New to District, Two-Way Dual Language (TWDL) teachers are considered Hard to Fill and are eligible for a $5000 stipend. The stipend is paid in two installments at the end of each semester. Pro-rated for employees who work less than 1.0FTE/207 days. "Make the Move" candidates are also eligible for this stipend if they have not received it previously.

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
