Decatur County Schools seeks a dynamic and dedicated Art Teacher to join our team. You will have the opportunity to inspire students through engaging art projects, cultivate their skills, and nurture their appreciation for various forms of art.

10 Months- (190 Days)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Art or Related Field
Hold or eligible to hold a professional certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
Passing GACE requirements
Knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Classroom management skills
Excellent organizational skills
Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for working with children
Previous teaching experience is a plus but not required for entry-level positions

JOB DESCRIPTION: ART
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;
Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all students;
Develops detailed, engaging instructional plans;
Implements a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with educational standards and encourages students to explore various artistic mediums, techniques, and styles;
Conducts dynamic and interactive art lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Provide clear instructions and constructive feedback to help students refine their artistic abilities;
Guide students in developing fundamental art skills such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media. Encourage them to think critically about art, analyze visual elements, and express their ideas through creative projects;
Integrate technology into art lessons to enhance the learning experience, incorporating digital tools and resources that align with contemporary art practices;
Collaborates with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to create a holistic educational experience for students. Participate in art-related events, exhibitions, and community outreach programs;
ImCollaborateplements effective methods for assessing student progress and understanding;
Provides timely and constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents and school administrators;
Instructs designed classes per formulated plans and outlines, and modified as necessary to achieve the learning objectives; all within the policies of the school system;
Maintains the degree of discipline and order in the classroom necessary to effectively instruct students;
Counsels with students and parents on learning and discipline problems as necessary;
Supervises or assists in the supervision of school activities as assigned;
Performs related duties as assigned as circumstances require;
Completes all records and reports on time and with accuracy;
Maintains satisfactory performance on the system Evaluation Instrument;
Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Routine physical activities are associated with a classroom teacher. It requires extensive sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, lifting, and repetitive fine motor activities as part of daily activities. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential functions of this position.
Ability to carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
The employee must perform each essential function satisfactorily. Employees are expected to attend all required meetings as approved by the supervisor.
The employee will adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission's Code of Ethics for Educators and all Decatur County Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, school system procedures, social media platform procedures, and all other applicable professional performance criteria. Maintenance of criminal history checks is required for all employees.
