Construction Teacher for Gainesville Middle School East

Position Description

WORK LOCATION: Gainesville Middle School - East

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Principal

WORK CALENDAR: 190 days

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Principal.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1 Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences

2 Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements

3.Provides leadership opportunities for students by establishing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), i.e. SkillsUSA, as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroom

4.Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment

5.Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program

6.Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area

7.Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school & district leadership

8.Accounts for student attendance and punctuality

9.Follows all district, state, and federal policies and procedures

10. Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities

11. Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed

12. Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent

13. Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations. i.e., ACTE, GACTE

14. Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications

15. Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction

16. Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale

17. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required

Must hold or be eligible for valid Construction certification from GaPSC; Trades at GaPSC 505-2-.90;

Areas of Specialization: (G) Construction AND meet any one of the five options: (Options 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) as outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.08 CAREER, TECHNICAL AND AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION, paragraph (3)(e), applicants meeting all requirements with the exception of industry testing and/or licensure may be issued a three (3)-year Induction certificate in this area of specialization

Minimum 2 years of occupational work experience in the field required

Effective Oral & Written Communication Skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Classroom/lab/construction environment (indoor or outdoor).

Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance;

Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds;

May require stooping or crouching;.

Vision, hearing, and verbal communications are essential functions of this position.
