JOB GOAL:

To develop, instruct, and collect data on students in the areas of education, behavior, and social skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month teaching contract (190 days), plus a benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSD's salary placement guidelines. FLSA: EXEMPT.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.

  • Current Arkansas certification in Special Education

  • Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk.

  • Evidence of ability to work well with others.

  • Evidence of excellent Interpersonal-professional skills

  • Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.

  • Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills.

  • Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans.

  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

  • Evidence of ability to create and implement individualized behavior plans.

  • Experience in teaching students with behavioral needs preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  • Serves as a member of the educational management team for students with emotional disturbance or trauma.

  • Implements individual educational goals and objectives.

  • Plans and delivers instruction that is aligned with students' individualized education plan goals and Little Rock School District curriculum maps.

  • Collects data on students' progress.

  • Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving Social emotional skills and the quality of student outcomes.

  • Direct work with students who present complex and challenging behaviors (case by case basis).

  • Implement and/or adjust plans for students who require specific behavior interventions.

  • Works closely with District Behavior specialists to problem-solve and program for students.

  • Attending required training for specific to student needs.

  • Performs other duties as the principal/supervisor may, from time to time, assign.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director
