GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The job of a teacher is to provide general education instruction to youth enrolled in a behavioralself-contained program. This position will work collaboratively with special educators and mentalhealth professionals to provide a cohesive program for students who are unable to access theeducational program in a less restrictive environment due to their behavioral and emotionalneeds.The teacher facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills throughdocumenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educationalneeds of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedbackto students, families, specialists, and administration regarding student progress, expectations,and goals. The teacher will instruct and supervise a diverse group of students by establishing apositive, respectful learning environment while promoting high standards of performance for allstudents, regardless of their background and developmental levels.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Performs some or all of the followingtasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, butcharacteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.
A. Develop and deliver instruction to students in assigned curriculum area, usingself-designed and adopted curriculum aligned with Oregon state standardsB. Assess student progress regularly, keeping accurate records and providing progressreports as required, and communicating with families as deemed necessaryC. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to thematurity and interest level of the students; develop rules of classroom behavior whichare taught and reinforced in a fair and just mannerD. Differentiate curriculum to meet the individual learning needs and interests of studentswith a wide range of performance levelsE. Employ a variety of instructional techniques to meet the learning needs of a diversegroup of learnersF. Advise special educator in the development of IEP goals for each student that addressestheir needs comprehensivelyG. Participate fully with other educational team members in the decisions regarding thestudents in the programH. Utilize appropriate strategies (behavioral and instructional), materials, and otheravailable resources that will assist the student to achieve instructional goals andobjectives, and also behavioral goals addressed in the IEPI. Develop and maintain effective communication with team members, families, colleaguesand administratorsJ. Participate in progress staffing's on identified studentsK. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student lifeL. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and agency partners at allorganizational levelsM. Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculumN. Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for thepurpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.O. Meet performance standards for all licensed staff contained in the District's EvaluationHandbook for Licensed EducatorsP. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctualityQ.
