MINTER CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - STEM SPECIALIST

This position supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching, while working collaboratively with grade-level educators and student support team, to develop and implement individualized student action plans. The STEM Specialist will effectively assess and diagnose students' science, technology, engineering, and math needs while promoting an interest in education and aid classroom support to students in grades K-5 and helping students connect math, science, and technological principles to everyday life analyzing and monitoring student achievement.

Experience with intervention/small group instruction is highly desired with preferred candidates having specialist/rotation experience. The ability to supplement the curriculum in alignment with the STEM program required.

Position requires the educator to work 180 Student Contract days with additional 3 days of State required Professional Development days. Additional (optional) Professional Development and Implementation days are offered and will be used to improve student learning. Educators will be compensated in accordance with the educator per diem rate of pay and paid as worked.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State Certificate* with K-8 Elementary Education required.

  • Teachers with multiple certificate endorsements preferred.

  • Teachers holding or pursuing National Board Certification preferred.

  • Teachers with Special Education endorsement desired.

  • Expertise in reading strategies and instruction; reading in the content area.

  • Successful teaching or student teaching experience.

  • Knowledge of, and experience, teaching standards-based curriculum.

  • Strong classroom management skills.

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility.

  • Understanding of current state-adopted standards appropriated to the position growth.
