JOIN OUR TEAM - NOW HIRING: GIG HARBOR HS PERFORMING ARTS TEACHER (.5 FTE)

OVERVIEW

Peninsula School District is seeking a dynamic and passionate Performing Arts Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theatre and music education, with the ability to teach courses in Play Production, Introduction to Drama, Choir, and Theatre Tech Design. This individual will inspire students through the performing arts, fostering a love for creativity, collaboration, and excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Play Production:

  • Develop and implement curriculum for play production classes.

  • Direct and produce school plays and musicals, guiding students through the entire production process.

  • Teach students various aspects of performance, including acting techniques, script analysis, and stage presence.

Introduction to Drama:

  • Create engaging lesson plans for introductory drama courses.

  • Introduce students to the fundamentals of acting, improvisation, and theatre history.

  • Foster a supportive environment where students can develop their confidence and creativity.

Choir:

  • Conduct choir classes, selecting appropriate repertoire for varying skill levels.

  • Provide vocal instruction and support students in developing their singing abilities.

  • Organize and lead performances for school and community events.

Theatre Tech Design:

  • Teach the technical aspects of theatre production, including set design, lighting, sound, and costume design.

  • Supervise students in the creation and execution of technical elements for school productions.

  • Ensure safe practices in the use of technical theatre equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State Certificate with proper endorsements to teach the subject(s) of the position posted, required.

Benefits include paid sick leave and Washington State Retirement plan. This position is projected to meet the minimum hours worked of six hundred thirty hours of employment in a school year to qualify for SEBB benefits.
