Job Description: Teaching and Learning Coach

Position Overview: The Teaching and Learning Coach serves as a catalyst for instructional excellence and student achievement. The Teaching and Learning Coach partners closely with educators to set meaningful goals, devise actionable plans, and implement effective teaching methodologies to foster student growth and positive student outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Goal Setting: Collaborate with educators to establish ambitious yet attainable instructional goals, leveraging data-driven insights to inform decision-making. / Guide teachers in crafting personalized professional development plans tailored to individual growth areas.

Action Planning: Assist educators in developing comprehensive action plans that outline specific strategies and resources to achieve instructional objectives. / Provide ongoing support and feedback to ensure the effective implementation of action plans.

Coaching Cycles: Conduct regular coaching cycles with teachers, including observation, feedback, and reflection sessions aimed at refining instructional practices. / Utilize a variety of coaching models and strategies to support teacher growth and development.

Modeling & Coteaching: Demonstrate exemplary teaching practices through modeling lessons, strategies, and instructional techniques. / Collaborate with teachers through co-teaching opportunities to enhance classroom instruction and student engagement. / Serve as a resource for teachers seeking guidance on effective instructional methods.

MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports): Collaborate with the site MTSS team to design and implement tiered interventions that address the diverse academic and behavioral needs of students.

Planning and Delivering Professional Development: Design and facilitate professional development sessions focused on best practices in instruction, assessment, and student engagement. / Tailor professional development offerings to address the evolving needs of teachers and the school community.

Participation in PLC (Professional Learning Community) Meetings & Data-informed Planning: Engage actively in Professional Learning Community meetings to analyze data, share instructional strategies, and collaborate on student-centered initiatives. / Utilize data to inform collaborative planning efforts and adjust instructional practices based on student progress and feedback.

Professional Learning: Pursue ongoing professional learning opportunities to stay abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in education. / Share acquired knowledge and expertise with colleagues to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Coaching Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other instructional coaches and school leaders to align coaching practices with school-wide goals and initiatives. / Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and professional growth among educators through meaningful coaching interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Certified educator with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience across multiple grade bands.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in educational settings, particularly in coaching or mentoring roles.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Proven track record of building trust and fostering positive relationships with colleagues, administrators, and students.

  • Enthusiasm and expertise in designated focus areas, including curriculum development, assessment, and instructional technology.

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
