Position Title: Teacher on Assignment

Department/Section: DeMiguel Elementary and Knoles Elementary (split between two school sites)

Supervisor: Site Principal

Salary: 10-month Certified Salary Schedule with associated TOA stipend

Start date: July 01, 2024

Summary of Function

At the direction of the site Principal, provide support in the coordination and implementation of the instructional program and student support. Collaborate with colleagues across the district in the support of restorative practices, high-quality teaching and learning, professional learning communities, and universal design for learning.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Valid AZ Department of Education Teaching Certificate required

  • Valid AZ Department of Education Certificate required

  • Working toward administrative certification with a desire to move into a school principal - required

  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred

  • Emphasis in supervision, educational administration, or educational leadership - preferred

  • Must become a qualified evaluator within the first 45 days of employment

  • Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement, English as a Second Language (ESL), or Bilingual endorsement is required within one year of hire

  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Three (3) years of successful experience in teaching - required

Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support school staff as they collect, analyze, and evaluate data.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, articulates and promotes collaboration among and between staff.

  • Ability to utilize a variety of skills for planning, implementation, and problem-solving in an efficient and collaborative manner.

  • Ability to provide effective leadership including goals, purpose, culture, and values to prompt learning.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support site principal in school-wide strategic planning.

  • Support educators in all areas of classroom instruction and environment, including instructional strategies, student engagement strategies, classroom management, assessment, intervention, and curriculum.

  • Support site principal in the implementation of school improvement goals.

  • Collaborate with site principal, school leadership, and teachers in site and district initiatives which include high-quality teaching and learning, restorative practice, professional learning communities, technology integration, and universal design for learning.

  • Work on formalizing school leadership skills which include but are not limited to;

  • parent engagement

  • staff engagement

  • staff observation, feedback, and evaluations

  • communication & marketing

  • logistics and operations

  • budget

  • school safety plans

  • Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.

  • Create and provide professional development activities.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development in accordance with site leadership.

  • Provides effective communications with administrators, teachers, and other school personnel to strengthen all aspects of the school community.

  • Supports site principal in maintaining a high standard of student conduct through restorative practices, respectful guidance, and prevention. Works collaboratively with staff and parents on solution-oriented approaches.

  • Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the principal may assign.

Working conditions

Indoor - classroom environment. Outdoor - all weather conditions and temperatures. Playground environment. Contact with the public, employees, children, and parents. Exposure to noise, dust, gas, and fumes.

Physical requirements

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement are required to perform aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting and moving for extended periods, requiring moving from one location to another, reaching, bending, holding, and grasping objects. Verbal communication ability is required.

Equipment, Aids, Tools, and Materials

Uses office equipment which includes but is not limited to: computers, video projectors, whiteboards, and office or instructional equipment. FUSD recognizes the ever-changing development of technology but expects all staff to keep abreast of changing technology opportunities and use tools and devices provided to them.

Mental Tasks

Communicates verbally and in writing. Reads. Analyze and evaluate data and reports. Develop, implement, and evaluate plans. Manages own office and work environment. Promotes learning and ensures safety. Perform functions from written and oral instruction and from observing and listening to others.

LETTER OF INTENT TO HIRE: If you are recommended for/offered the position, but have not met all requirements, the position will be offered as an intent to hire, The Letter of Intent remains in effect until all certification requirements are met. (Deadline to meet all requirements: June 30, 2024). Should you not meet this deadline, administrators will be given the option to re-post the position to interview more candidates OR request an extension of the deadline date. Please note that an Letter of Intent to Hire" is not a binding offer of employment and no employment contract between you and the District exists until such time as the District Governing Board approves the issuance of an employment contract at a public meeting.
