TITLE: Teacher and MAP Coordinator - Merrillville High School

POSITION: Classroom Teacher (content area TBD) and Merrillville Alternative

Program (MAP) Coordinator

This position may be organized with an alternative work day or

additional stipend for work done in addition to the regular full work

day

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To fully implement the goals and objectives of MAP and provide instruction during the school day

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop instructional objectives for each lesson concerning what students need and should learn and relate them to the course and MCSC curriculum.

• Correlate learning activities with instructional objectives and with the maturity and academic level of the students.

• Establish and maintain parent-teacher communications when necessary through conferences, phone calls, and digital resources.

• Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to each student's emotional and behavioral development; one in which the students can develop a sense of worth and dignity.

• Implement all corporation policies as they relate to the classroom.

• Direct and supervise the conduct of all students in the classroom and in MAP.

• Requisition all prescribed instructional materials and supplies necessary to complete the academic year.

• Assess student performance, maintain performance record-keeping, and make appropriate instructional decisions based on student performance.

• Conduct intake and exit interviews with students/families upon entrance and departure of MAP

• Coordinate and provide supervision of MAP students during MAP's hours of operation

• Organize instructional and personnel needs of MAP according to enrollment and program needs

• All other duties as assigned by the building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold or be eligible for an appropriate State of Indiana Teaching license, administrative license preferred.

• Proven reliability, good organization skills, and ability to work well with students, parents and staff.
