POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Music/Choir - Middle School

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree.

• Must hold valid state licensure in music education.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Choral pedagogy.

• Ability to build relationships with students, families, and community.

• Ability to support diverse population of students.

REPORTS TO: Principal

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Follow the responsibilities as set forth in the Teacher job description.

• Serve the district as Vocal, General Music and Performing Arts Teacher for grades 6-8.

• Order music, apparel and equipment for the vocal music groups where appropriate.

• Teach general styles of music, classical piano, practical and theory.

• Teach singing to students from beginner to advanced level and Incorporate musical instruments and movement in lessons.

• Plan and implement a program of instruction and lesson plans.

• Prepare students for school concerts, planned music experiences, practicals and exams.

• Work with the Performing Arts Boosters, parents & volunteers.

• See to the care of all choir apparel, music and equipment.

• Organize and administer all of the vocal music, which includes choirs, solo & ensemble contests, concerts, graduations, field trips and all other public performances as approved by the principal.

• Organize and administer the Middle School choir with the expectation of having two music concerts each year.

• Build relationships, inspire and motivate students to extend themselves to after school music clubs.

• Any other duties as assigned by the building principal.
