Hours: Full time at International Learning Center in Rockville, VA

Rate: Competitive salary + great benefits

Creates, develops, delivers, and evaluates custom-designed curricula to prepare school aged students for cross cultural life and to help school aged students transition to a stateside environment. Provides day-to-day classroom leadership including teaching and evaluating students, providing transitional support, supervising assistants, communicating with parents, coworkers and directors and ensuring a clean, safe, and appropriately stimulating environment for learning. All curriculum, teaching and communication should support and follow IMB's ethos.

Responsibilities:

Delivers effective instruction of curriculum for Field Personnel Orientation (FPO) and Stateside Assignment Conference (SAC). Manages classroom climate and operations by building positive relationships with students and using age appropriate behavior management techniques.

1.Plans, documents, and prepares curriculum and instruction for FPO and SAC elementary age children:

  • FPO - lessons targeting discipleship, servant leadership, family member, team player, cross-cultural witness, mobilizer, and church planting as well as maintaining basic skill levels in math and language arts.

  • SAC - lessons include activities for debriefing experiences of previous term on the field, re-entry into U.S. culture, and cultivating spiritual development.

  • All programs will include lessons related to the blessing and challenges of being a TCK as well as strategies for dealing with stress and thriving through transition

2.Observes, documents, and reports academic, developmental, social, behavioral and spiritual progress of students. .

3.Communicates information related to classroom schedules, lessons/activities, student needs, resource needs, and other pertinent information to parents, co-workers, and appropriate others.

4.Trains and directs assistants assigned to their classroom for each program (temps, and volunteers). Clearly explains classroom procedures and expectations using introductory emails, pre-program training, checklists, and evaluation tools to ensure that assistants adequately perform the duties of their role daily.

5.Provides a clean and safe learning environment by following all safety procedures as outlined in CERC policy. Creates a welcoming and stimulating environment for FPO and SAC programs.

Requirements

  • Teaching Certificate required

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience

  • Current First aid and CPR

  • EMAT training/certificate or equivalent

  • IMB Safe and Secure Training annually.

  • At least 1 year overseas/cross cultural experience or training

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
