Join Cottage Health as a temporary Teacher II. The Teacher II works with groups of children in a classroom setting providing nurturing care, creative age appropriate curriculum and information and support to families. Major accountabilities include:

  • Children & Families: Communicates positively with parents on a regular, planned basis as well as on an informal daily basis.

    Conducts parent conferences annually or as requested by supervisor or parent. Assists in organizing and attends parent functions. Responsible for providing safe and nurturing care to all children at all times including but not limited to diapering or toileting, feeding, and supporting and modeling positive behaviors while attending to the various social and emotional needs of the children.

  • Classroom & Curriculum: Responsible for prep and clean-up tasks such as; setting out snacks and meals, preparation and clean-up of projects and environments, preparing the room for nap and mealtimes, implementing and maintaining a creative and safe learning environment both inside and out.

    Selects and carries out age appropriate curriculum for the children as outlined in our curriculum philosophies. Maintains standards as described in National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation materials while creating a caring, peaceful environment with emphasis placed on child centered learning.

  • Communications & Teamwork: Maintains positive and open channels of communications with all co-workers. Consistently adheres to Hospital's "Standards of Behavior" and "Code of Conduct" as well as to Child Care Services "Commitment to my Co-Worker". Maintains clear and timely communications with supervisors and team members regarding any concerns about children's health, safety, emotional well-being, behavioral or developmental issues and environmental hazards.

  • Documentation & Department Specific Policies: Maintains all appropriate documentation including but not limited to:

    Completing bi-annual assessment checklists for children and monthly observations and observation charts. Maintaining "documentation binders" for children in primary group. Completes 10 -15 "mouse notes" monthly.

    Maintaining all daily classrooms charting as assigned. Attends all monthly staff meetings, all Department meetings and all In-Service days with no more than 2 excused absences per year. Attends one workshop or conference for professional growth and development per year.

    Completes all required HealthStream classes and takes responsibility for completing KRONOS records as needed. Keeps current with all Hospital and Departmental email. Responsible for understanding and remaining compliant with all Departmental policies.

  • Lead Responsibilities · Completes classroom charts as assigned · Manages daily smooth running of the classroom. I.e. break taking, flexing, grouping of children. · Addresses parent's concerns and questions · Checks in with Program Supervisor on a daily basis. · Manages classroom expenses. · Leads and directs Substitute and Float Teachers and Teacher 1's as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Minimum: 24 Units of Early Childhood Education (ECE), with at least 3 in Infant/Toddler care if the position is with infants or toddlers, and 2 years of teaching experience; OR 24 ECE units, with at least 3 in Infant/Toddler care if the position is with infants or toddlers, plus an additional 16 ECE or General ED units, and 1 year teaching experience; OR A Child Development Teacher Permit, with at least 3 ECE units in Infant/Toddler care if the position is with infants or toddlers.

Preferred: AA degree in ECE with at least three units in Infant/Toddler cares if the position is with infants or toddlers and Resources for Infant Educator (RIE 1) or Reggio Emilia training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Preferred: Child Development Permit, American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid Heartsaver Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Familiarity with Microsoft Suite and basic email functions.

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum: See above.

Preferred: 2 years with applicable age group including Lab School experience
