Communicates with parents about their childs individual progress and maintains records of attendance and educational achievement.</p><p>POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p>Responsible for the care and supervision of all enrolled PACE Education Division children, planning and implementing classroom lessons, conducting meetings and conferences with parents, coordinating activities and events for children and parents, interacting with the public and providing customer service by phone, email and in person, and preparing correspondence, reports, records and other paperwork required by the early childhood education program.</p><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:</p><ul><li><p>Ensure proper care, safety and supervision of groups of children at all times, for up to 7 hours per day.</p></li><li><p>Maintain appropriate child/teacher ratio is met at all times.</p></li><li><p>Ensure classroom routine is conducive to learning, safety and development.</p></li><li><p>Plan and implement classroom lessons and activities for children indoors and out in accordance with all PACE Education Division selected curriculums and Head Start Performance Standards.</p></li><li><p>Conducts learning and developmental assessments of children, including but not limited to DRDP-2015, ASQ-3, ASQ: SE2, etc. according to timelines.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work with children of varying abilities and adhere to Individual Educational Plans.</p></li><li><p>Conduct interior and exterior environmental safety checks to ensure a safe learning environment.</p></li><li><p>Prepare and assist in serving family style meals to children.</p></li><li><p>Clean and sanitize all areas of the classroom, including food preparation, eating and toileting areas.</p></li><li><p>Help children practice good hygiene, including personal cleanliness and toileting/diapering, as needed.</p></li><li><p>Serves as an translator for parents who do not speak English (as appropriate)</p></li><li><p>Conducts annual teacher-parent conferences and home visits</p></li><li><p>Maintains records of enrollment, attendance, and other required paperwork, both manually and digitally.</p></li><li><p>Actively attends and participates in-service trainings provided by PACE and other agencies.</p></li><li><p>Works effectively with other team members</p></li><li><p>Ability to attend assignments away from assigned site, such as in-service trainings, home visits, parent conferences, etc.</p></li><li><p>Organizes and maintains instructional and program supplies</p></li><li><p>Maintains an organized and developmentally appropriate classroom.</p></li><li><p>Sets up and takes down classrooms, as needed.</p></li><li><p>Participates in recruitment of children to maintain full enrollment and an active waitlist.</p></li><li><p>Recruits, trains and supervises parents and other volunteers.</p></li><li><p>Uses non-teaching hours to complete paperwork, home visits, conferences and other requirements.</p></li><li><p>Ensures accurate, complete and up to date childrens files, paperwork and documentation, according to agency policies and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Adheres to agency policies and procedures</p></li><li><p>Provides direction and coaching to Teacher Assistant(s) and provides performance feedback to Regional Site Director to aid in their professional development.</p></li><li><p>Provides culturally and linguistically appropriate customer service to parents, children, community representatives/members, and all PACE staff on a daily basis.</p></li><li><p>Cooperates with Site Lead, Regional Site Director and Service Area Managers in planning, supervision, and implementation of overall program</p></li><li><p>Assists in accomplishing the program's Non-Federal Match contribution through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods) and classroom volunteer hours.</p></li><li><p>Supports with child watch during parent meetings/trainings, as needed.</p></li><li><p>Substitute as needed in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement</p></li><li><p>Other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position to maintain a quality preschool program.</p></li></ul><p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li>California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher.</li></ul><p>EXPERIENCE:</p><ul><li><p>At least one (1) years of experience in a classroom or group setting with young children.</p></li><li><p>Must demonstrate competencies in planning and implementing learning experiences that:</p></li><li><p>Advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their skills in approaches to learning, language, literacy, social-emotional, cognitive and physical development;</p></li><li><p>Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment; and</p></li><li><p>Encourage family involvement of the children in a Head Start program and support the development of relations between children and their families.</p></li><li><p>Must be at least 18 years old.</p></li></ul><p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p><ul><li><p>T.B. Test within the past six months prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).</p></li><li><p>Must pass a physical examination at the time of hire, and every 2 years thereafter</p></li><li><p>Provide proof of the following immunizations: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Influenza.</p></li><li><p>Current Department of Justice Fingerprint Clearance at the time of hire, and renewed every 5 years thereafter.</p></li><li><p>Current Adult &amp; Pediatric CPR/1St Aid Certificate, to be renewed prior to expiration</p></li><li><p>Reliable transportation</p></li><li><p>Valid California Drivers License and proof of auto insurance (if applicable)</p></li><li><p>Must provide proof of COVID vaccine</p></li></ul><p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p><p>The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically a pre-school environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment. Outdoor and indoor supervision of playgrounds / workplace for on-going periods occurs regularly. Lift and carry at least 45 lbs or more. The individual must be able to work with children at their eye level and always maintain visual supervision of children, as well as hear, communicate, and comprehend effectively with children, staff, and parents.
