Medway Public Schools is seeking to fill the following position for the 2024-2025 school year:

TEACHER - ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION

Salary: $53,202.03 - $105,660.68

The Special Education Teacher for the Intensive Learning Center (ILC) provides specialized instruction and support to students who require intensive academic interventions. This position involves teaching major academic subjects within the ILC while also facilitating inclusionary opportunities for students to participate in mainstream classrooms. The teacher collaborates with other educators, support staff, and parents to ensure each student's individualized needs are met and their educational goals are achieved.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the Intensive Learning Center, focusing on academic goals and objectives tailored to each student's needs.
Provide direct instruction to students in major academic subjects such as reading, writing, mathematics, and science within the Intensive Learning Center setting.
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate the inclusion of ILC students in mainstream classrooms, providing support and accommodations as needed.
Assess student progress regularly using a variety of assessment tools and methods, and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure academic growth.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior, and communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student achievements and challenges.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment within the Intensive Learning Center, promoting positive behavior management strategies and social-emotional learning.
Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education, inclusive education, and academic interventions.
Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team, including special education coordinators, psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to support the holistic development of students in the Intensive Learning Center.

Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree plus license/certification in specified area.
Qualifications include a Mild/Moderate Special Education license and an elementary license
Experience working with students with diverse learning needs,
Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for students with disabilities
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
Commitment to inclusive education and fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and documentation processes.
Familiarity with assistive technology and other accommodations to support student learning and accessibility.
