EDCOE Special Services is seeking a collaborative Special Education teacher with Extensive Support Needs credential (formerly known as Moderate-Severe Teaching Credential) to join our team. Special Services, in partnership with our local school districts, provides county regional Special Education programs for students with extensive support needs grades preschool through adult transition. All of our programs are all co-located on public school campuses and can be found off of the Highway 50 corridor from El Dorado Hills to Camino. This one-year limited-term itinerant position (2024-2025 school year) will support classroom teaching needs and ensure the consistent delivery of Special Education supports and services within our classroom regional programs. This is a great opportunity to work in a variety of Special Education classrooms throughout El Dorado County! This position is a categorically funded position with one time Categorical ESSR funding, this position will end May 2025 at the end of the school year.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDCOE will offer to reimburse tuition costs for the newly hired teacher assigned to Special Services to obtain his/her moderate to severe or mild to moderate special education credential in a position requiring this credential in an amount not to exceed a total of $10,000. To receive tuition reimbursement, the eligible employee must provide proof of enrollment in a qualifying program, as determined by EDCOE; Cooperate with EDCOE in the attainment of a Limited Assignment Permit when eligible and if applicable; As courses are completed at the conclusion of each semester or quarter, whichever is applicable, provide proof of satisfactory course completion (grade "C" equivalent or better) and good standing with the qualifying program; The unit member must commit to serve EDCOE in the Special Services Regional Programs for two (2) years from completion of the qualifying program. OR EDCOE shall offer a signing bonus to the newly hired teacher assigned to Special Services with a moderate to severe or mild to moderate special education credential, payable in two separate, one-time, $5,000 installments at the conclusion of the employee's first and second year of successful employment with EDCOE, not to exceed $10,000.

Education: • Bachelor's degree • Education Specialist Instruction Credential

  • Moderate/Severe Experience: • One year in related teaching assignment • Work with students with severe handicaps preferred
