The Office of Student Services (OSS) is responsible for providing a variety of supports and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools (CPS). Our programs are dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and students who have advanced learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate care and home-based ABA services for eligible students in the district

  • Participate in decision-making about home-based ABA services for students in conjunction with district guidelines

  • Provide training to ABA technicians/home-based personnel and parents/guardians regarding proper implementation of behavioral programming, teaching strategies, and data collection within the home setting

  • Provide supervision to certified ABA home-based technicians and/or Registered Behavior Technicians Candidates

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments, prepare and analyze results

  • Determine appropriate home- and community- based treatment objectives for students and design effective skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs to make progress towards these goals

  • Monitor and support the implementation and effectiveness of skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming, and make changes/recommendations to enhance progress

  • Provide regular consultation services to teachers, support staff, and community providers

  • Maintain regular communication and consultation with outside agencies and service providers around data collection and service delivery

  • Facilitate inclusion opportunities into community settings where appropriate and in conjunction with the team

  • Participate in team meetings, including but not limited to IEP meetings, re-evaluations, progress meetings, and school-home carryover meetings

  • Collaborate with all team members, including teaching and support staff, Office of Special Education staff, specialists, parents, and outside organizations

  • Collaborate with specialists to implement procedures within the classroom setting to assist with carryover of skills targeted in therapy sessions

  • Carry out other related duties as may be designated by the Related Service Lead Teacher and/or Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Student Services

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Behavioral Specialist you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • BCBA Board Licensure required

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university

  • Knowledge of and experience working with students with social, language, and behavioral deficits

  • Strong working knowledge of behavioral principles

  • Experience with adaptive technology

  • Experience providing in-home ABA services

  • Experience working in Special Education

  • LABA preferred

  • Experience working in a public school setting preferred
