Salary Structure: $61,782.00+/yr*

(*additional compensation for related and education)

Position Contract: 10-month, Instruction, Certified

General Description:

Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Teacher, Automotive Service Technology who will be responsible for education and supervision of the students, utilizing curriculum which follows the Board approved, occupation-based curriculum design, employing differentiated instructional practices to meet student needs to develop knowledge, skills, work ethic, and competencies for employment.

General Qualification Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Ability to qualify for a valid Oklahoma teaching certification, with vocational endorsement, in subject area assignment (Oklahoma State Department of Education).

  • At least three (3) years successful occupational experience in the skill area assignment.

  • Additional program related certifications/credentials may be required.

  • Must have A1 - A8 ASE certifications or the ability to have them completed within one school year.

(Above requirements may be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)

Representative Duties:

  • Plans, prepares and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory/shop and/or work-based learning environment as established by State, National and/or District standards and requirements

  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates those objectives to students

  • Studies material and prepares in advance for classes with necessary curriculum, supplies and/or equipment

  • Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities

  • Identifies and selects different instructional methodologies to meet students' varying needs

  • Incorporates the use of digital instructional methodologies into lesson plans including blended learning, e-learning and other nontraditional approaches

  • Instructs and monitors students' in the use of learning materials, equipment and technology

  • Assigns and grades class work, homework, assignments, projects, tests and provides feedback in a timely manner

  • Observes and evaluates student progress and/or performance in all educational settings

  • Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students

  • Ensures all eligible students are prepared to take licensure, certification and /or end- of-instruction exams

  • Actively engages students' in the associated career tech student organization

  • Maintains student discipline in the classroom, laboratory/shop, work-based learning environment and school sponsored activities as established by State, National and/or District standards and requirements

  • Provides support, encouragement and advisement to students with academic challenges, and recommends additional resources as necessary

  • Communicates regularly to students, colleagues, administration and parents (if applicable) regarding student progress and/or student needs

  • Keeps current with developments in subject area, teaching resources and instructional methods and reflects relevant change to instructional plans and activities

  • Demonstrates, encourages and maintains safe conditions throughout the classroom, laboratory/shop and work-based learning environments, cooperating fully with the district and campus safety committees and appropriate authorities

  • Maintains accurate, complete and confidential records of students' progress and development as established by State, National and/or District standards and requirements

  • Prepares, maintains and/or updates all necessary records such as student follow-up accurately, completely and in a timely manner as established by State, National and/or District standards and requirements

  • Participates in district, site, and departmental meetings

  • Makes industry visits to develop network for skill upgrade, advisory committee development and student job placement

  • Plans and conducts advisory committee meetings at least semi-annually to ensure that all training is relevant and current, utilizing a committee which has been approved by District and/or Site Director

  • Maintains expertise/competence in area of specialty by attending conferences/seminars and/or school as approved and requested by the administration or Board of Education

  • Adheres to a designated work schedule and is able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities

  • Demonstrates dedication to working with students in an objective and fair manner regardless of handicap, race sex, national origin, age, or socio-economic background and follows the standards of conduct and performance as adopted by the State Board of Education and Metro Tech Board of Education

  • Demonstrates the ability to read, speak clearly and deliver presentation; ability to operate instructional equipment; and ability to move around the classroom

  • Performs any duties as may be required by the administration or Board of Education, as determined by the expectations of the position.
