Description:
Facilitate a learning environment where students will observe and practice the development and care of young children.
Essential Functions:
Develop weekly lesson plans that instruct and demonstrate to students how to build and maintain an atmosphere where children feel secure, loved and respected as individuals.
Plan and evaluate children's activities with child development students and oversee indoor and outdoor activities and participate in departmental activities planned for children and their families while sustaining a safe environment that protects children against physical, moral and social hazards.
Plan, coordinate and supervise all mealtime activities.
Evaluate children semi-annually and conduct parent conferences annually.
Complete on a timely basis and maintain documents and record keeping required for both students and children in compliance with District policy, State & Federal regulations governing child care center operations.
Maintain equipment and environment in an orderly, sanitary, neat and safe manner.
Attend staff meeting, workshops and in-service training required by the District and other regulatory agencies.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provision of services to internal and external customers and in day-to-day operations of the department. Interpret and implement policies in a manner consistent with the interests of the District. Provide advice and consultation to executive management as requested. Investigate and resolve issues as needed, represent the department and District in a professional manner to all.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of one year of experience working in the field of early childcare and development.
Child Development Associate Credential (must be obtained within one year of employment)
CPR and First Aid (must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment)
Food Handlers Card (must be obtained within the first month of employment)
Valid state issued driver's license
Bilingual is a plus
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required

Hiring Range:
$13.35 to $15.61 per hour, (10 month position working August
