Salary/Position Classification
$17 Hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
17.5 hours per week- two shifts available
M-F 7:30 AM-11:00 AM or 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Individual must be able to work one of the two shifts listed, Monday through Friday.

Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. The childcare teacher assistant provides support to the Early Childhood Teacher in the care and active supervision of children 18 months to age 5 years.
Duties & Responsibilities
1.Assist in the implementation of planned activities that promote growth in all developmental domains.
a. Set a positive example of how learning is fun.
b. Assist children with activities to further their growth and development.
c. Assist with set-up and clean-up of activities.
d. Sub as needed.
2.Assist in preparation and implementation of a rich, stimulating, learning environment for children.
3.Assist in maintaining the health and safety of children and the environment.
4.Work closely with the teachers to create a close, caring, respectful relationship with each child's family that promotes a positive and friendly atmosphere to families/individuals.
5.Assist Experienced Teachers in offering support to students-in-training-UND field experience students.
a. Be a positive role model of professionalism to all employees at the Learning Center.
b. Answer questions, if able, or find an experienced teacher to answer the questions
6.Work Effectively, respectfully, and professionally with a team of colleagues.
7.Uphold the code of professional /ethical conduct and maintain strict confidentiality of all children, families, and coworkers.
Required Competencies
Computer literate
Good interpersonal skills
Very good oral/written communication skill
Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices in early
childhood.
Minimum Requirements
At least one of the following:
40 hours of professional Early Childhood professional development preparation to include 10 clock hours of training in each North Dakota Core Competency Areas: Families/Communities, Program Planning/Evaluation, and Professional Development and Leadership. The listed trainings must be delivered by an Early Childhood agency with expertise in the field such as Head Start, Growing Futures, US Military).
Early Childhood Certificate from a vocational or technical school.
One 3 semester credit college course directly applicable to one of the following ND Core Competency Areas: Families/Communities, Program Planning/Evaluation, and Professional Development and Leadership.
AND all of the following:
1 year of work experience in Early Childhood Education
Successful completion of criminal history records check.
Successful completion of the ND Department Health and Human Service Criminal History Fingerprinting Background Check.
Valid Driver's License
Upon being hired: must complete CPR/First AID/AED Training and ND Growing Futures Basic Childcare Course.
