Description:
A Teacher Assistant (TA) assists a teacher in maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom, ensuring the continuance of the education program developed by the teacher.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED, required
Current certificate in first aid and CPR, preferred
Current certificate in LIU approved Crisis Management program, preferred
All paraprofessionals must also complete twenty (20) hours of professional development related to their assignment each school year in order to continue employment.
Must obtain "qualified" status within one (1) year from date of hire
"Qualified" means meeting a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a local or state assessment
Certificate of Competency - free of cost and can be acquired on the job OR
CAPE test
OR having an associate's degree or higher
OR having completed 2 years (48 credits) of postsecondary study.
Terms of Employment: Full-time, 7 hours/day, 188 days/year (follows traditional school year schedule)
Salary: TA/PCA pay scale - Minimum $14.50/hr, plus excellent benefits.
