Description:
A Teacher Assistant (TA) assists a teacher in maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom, ensuring the continuance of the education program developed by the teacher. This is a Floating Teacher Assistant position which would require the chosen candidate to travel to cover various Adams County classrooms including Maple Avenue Middle School (Littlestown Area School District), Fairfield Area Middle School (Fairfield Area School District), St. Matthew Ed Building (Hanover), Bermudian Springs High School (Bermudian Springs School District), and Spring Grove Intermediate School (Spring Grove Area School District).

Qualifications:
HS diploma/GED required
Experience working with preschool children with special needs preferred
Must be willing to frequently get up and down off of the floor to work with and keep up with young children
Must be high energy and able to keep alert to every child in the classroom
All paraprofessionals must also complete twenty (20) hours of professional development related to their assignment each school year in order to continue employment.
Must obtain "qualified" status within one (1) year from date of hire
"Qualified" means meeting a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a local or state assessment
Certificate of Competency - free of cost and can be acquired on the job OR
CAPE test
OR having an associate's degree or higher
OR having completed 2 years (48 credits) of postsecondary study.
Terms of Employment: Full-time, 7 hour day, 188-day working year. The Preschool Program operates on a unique stretch schedule throughout the entire year, including summer.
Salary: TA/PCA pay scale
