SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic 0.6 FTE Drama teacher to join the Hudson High School community. Candidates should be able to contribute to a positive environment for student learning and involvement, embracing cultural diversity and multiple perspectives. Hold a strong belief that all students are capable of achieving and is able to provide support and feedback for a wide range of learners. Has a collegial spirit that supports the team model through collaboration and professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Plans, organizes and presents instruction and instructional environments which help students learn the subject matter and the skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruct students in practical methods and theory of general music, singing, as well as playing musical instruments
Instruct students in practical methods and theory of drama/theater in grades 8 - 12
Instill in students the confidence to use vocal techniques and body language to perform in front of their classmates and to keep the attention of an audience
Teach skills in drama/theater understanding and appreciation, appropriate for the grade level being taught
Help students to better understand and analyze character roles/traits in scripted and unscripted material
Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music in relationship to the level being taught.
Provides instruction in the skills necessary to access information in all formats to both large groups and individual students
Adapts curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate variety of instructional needs
Evaluates each student's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding in relationship to the level being taught
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred
Mass DESE Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General certification required.
MA DESE Theater certification required
Ability to speak Portuguese and/or Spanish preferred
Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee's policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.
WORK YEAR:
10 months, 183 days
2 personal days, 12 sick days, prorated pursuant to date of hire
Benefit Eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.

This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay
While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
