JOB SUMMARY: Plans, coordinates, supervises and provides technical assistance to electrical services personnel.

Establishes relationship and communication with administrators for work request status. Serves as a senior level technical expert and administrator that specializes in electrical services. Oversees all licensing requirements for staff.

Obtains permits and inspections, and consults with contractors. This is an office-based single incumbent position with district wide authority. Provides senior level field support for complex electrical projects.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and performs inspection ensuring compliance.

  • Supervises design, installation, and maintenance repairs and provides technical assistance to staff.

  • Coordinates and expedites work requests ensuring proper clearances and permits.

  • Implements asbestos clearance for all work activities which involves new electrical work or repair work.

  • Implements personnel safety practice in the workplace and MSDS awareness.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Vocational / Technical / Business School

WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 to 7 years

TYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION: SAP, Microsoft Office Licensed Electrician Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, and screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift)

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied.

Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

BUDGET AUTHORITY: No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS: Follows rules and procedures.

Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS: Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS: Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs.

Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.

The Title I School Counselor position will be utilized to enhance student academic performance and provide additional opportunities for students to meet with their school counselor to address academic, behavior and/or attendance concerns. The School Counselor is responsible for promoting student success, providing preventive services, and responding to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, social, and emotional development. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive counseling and guidance program based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) framework to address the needs of all students. * Conduct needs assessments and utilize data to identify and support targeted areas of need on their campus. * Address all students' social/emotional development needs by designing, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student success. * Provide direct services through the identified counseling and guidance program to students with presenting needs/concerns. * Consult with parents, school staff, and community stakeholders to help increase student outcomes for success. * Coordinate and partner with College and Career Readiness programs to expose and support student development of career awareness and academic planning. * Facilitate scheduling and course selection process; ensure students' coursework is aligned to grade and skill level. * Provide in-service training on guidance topics and curriculum for teachers, administrators, and campus stakeholders. * Support teachers in developing and delivering classroom guidance activities and lessons based on the school's guidance counseling curriculum. * Interpret standardized test results and other assessment data to help students make educational and career plans and assist with the implementation of assessments. * Perform other counseling and guidance related duties as assigned. Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling and Guidance. Certifications: Texas Education Agency Counselor Certification Work Experience: Two years exemplary teaching experience. Working knowledge of personal computers and applicable software. Other Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the department. Ability to discern the sensitivity of internal/external communications in a large public organization and an awareness of the elements of public relations. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student and community population. Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard.
