JOB SUMMARY: Plans, coordinates, supervises and provides technical assistance to electrical services personnel.
Establishes relationship and communication with administrators for work request status. Serves as a senior level technical expert and administrator that specializes in electrical services. Oversees all licensing requirements for staff.
Obtains permits and inspections, and consults with contractors. This is an office-based single incumbent position with district wide authority. Provides senior level field support for complex electrical projects.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates and performs inspection ensuring compliance.
Supervises design, installation, and maintenance repairs and provides technical assistance to staff.
Coordinates and expedites work requests ensuring proper clearances and permits.
Implements asbestos clearance for all work activities which involves new electrical work or repair work.
Implements personnel safety practice in the workplace and MSDS awareness.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 to 7 years
TYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION: SAP, Microsoft Office Licensed Electrician Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, and screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied.
Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.
BUDGET AUTHORITY: No budget development activity is required.
PROBLEM SOLVING: Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS: Follows rules and procedures.
Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS: Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS: Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs.
Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.
