The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Human Resources Manager in handling the daily functions of the HR department including but not limited to recruiting, payroll, benefits, onboarding, leave, offboarding, training, safety, employee engagement, employee assistance, retention, and general enforcement of company policies and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to requests for assistance from employees and management.

  • Correctly interprets, assists, and advises employees and managers in regard to things such as leave management, benefits administration, and company policies and procedures.

  • Prepares reports for the HR Manager on HR KPIs.

  • Ensure employee safety by heading the Employee Safety Committee.

  • Stay current on employee and payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Recommend and develop employee relations practices to foster a positive employer-employee relationship.

  • Maintain the work structure by updating Job Safety Analysis, SDS's, Job Descriptions, etc.

  • Manages sensitive and confidential matters including employee relations, and organization changes, and protects the security of information, data, and files.

  • Exercises individual judgment when dealing with potential or real issues and brings them to the HR Manager's attention.

  • Keeps up to date on current issues and matters in the organization related to the HR department.

  • Accurately process payroll in the required time.

  • Scans production tickets for payroll and processing of production tickets for payroll.

  • Reviews timecards weekly to ensure accuracy and works with the supervisor on any corrections.

  • Accurately completes wage verification requests and responds promptly.

  • Offers and enrolls new employees' benefits packages.

  • Processes benefit enrollments and changes in UKG and carrier sites as required.

  • Maintain, process, and manage employee attendance.

  • Assists in various employee training.

  • Maintains employee records by handling changes in employee status promptly and keeping electronic records up to date.

  • Ensures effective receipt of and/or proper approvals on forms and enters changes if needed.

  • Assists in the maintenance of employee directories, employee photos, and company organization charts.

  • Maintains logs/records of employee training and reporting compliance.

  • Schedules, organizes, and decorates employee events including but not limited to, food trucks, mammograms, and other employee events.

  • Maintain the Employee Communication Board, including updating policy posters and job postings.

  • Communicate information clearly and timely.

  • Assist with Worker's Compensation scheduling and investigations.

  • Processing of terminations.

  • Works with the HR Manager on Employee Relations issues.

  • Scheduling for HR Manager as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must have good organizational skills.

  • Strict attention to detail and quality is a must.

  • Proficient in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word], PowerPoint and Adobe PDF.

  • Experience managing and working to perform with a high sense of urgency and the ability to shift priorities to meet key deadlines.

  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.

  • Must be self-directed and motivated.

  • Must be able to effectively use time management skills.

  • Must have effective communication skills (reading, writing, speaking) with all levels of staff and management.

  • Must be able to work with confidential information and understand and adhere to regulations regarding confidentiality.

  • Must be able to create required documentation, reports, boards, etc.

  • Must be able to lead meetings and produce reports and power points.

  • The ability to train individuals is a must.

  • Dedicated to business and willing to adjust schedule and hours as needed, including working weekends.

  • Knowledge of coaching and counseling of staff.

  • Ability to write reports, use a computer as well as other office equipment, and present information to groups of individuals across all levels.

  • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules and operating and procedures documents.

  • Must be able to stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours per day on the manufacturing production floor.

  • Must be able to occasionally push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to wear required PPE such as Safety Glasses and closed-toe/closed-heel shoes.

  • Must be able to adhere to all Safety Policies and Procedures to prevent injuries to yourself and others.
