The City of Taylor is seeking a self- motivated, independent thinker, who works well in a team environment to fill the role of Senior Budget Analyst. The Senior Budget Analyst for the City of Taylor, Texas, performs a range of budgetary and financial tasks, including the development and administration of the operational budget, gathering economic and financial data, compiling presentations and award submissions, and supporting procurement project management. This role also involves maintaining and monitoring revenues and expenditures and handling various special projects.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this non-supervisory position regularly interacts with employees, the general public, and occasionally with other city offices and organizations. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles Knowledge of budgeting practices and principles Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex materials, budgets and related documents Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products Understanding of multi-fund budgeting and demonstrate an ability to develop and manage multi-million dollar budgets Strong understanding of grant management, debt management, and Capital Improvement Plans THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Minimum 3 years’ experience in multi-departmental budgeting or government accounting Graduate work or a master’s degree may be a substitute for years of experience.
