Essential Functions:

  • Preparation of complex tax returns (individual, corporate and partnership returns)

  • Ability to analyze tax issues and come to conclusions.

  • Prepare quarterly and year-end estimates to assist clients with tax planning

  • Perform diversified accounting, auditing and tax assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager or partner

  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and firm standards

  • Meet time constraints and client deadlines

  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to assist staff associates

  • Begin acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationship and loyalty

  • Participate in firm training courses to further develop technical skills

  • Provide excellent client service by producing quality work, quick turnaround and attentive service

  • Become proficient at tax research including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm

Requirements:

  • Meets all requirements to sit for CPA exam

  • Those possessing CPA certification will be given preference

  • 3+ years of public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of tax returns

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure

  • Ability to prioritize a heavy work load and remain organized

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

The Sr. Tax Reporting Specialist will assist in complex unemployment compliance activities as they relate to client level unemployment reporting regulatory requirements. The person in this position will remit payroll tax, respond to inquiries regarding unemployment tax compliance questions and provide second level of support for Tax Reporting Specialist performing same functions. The Sr. Tax Reporting Specialist will also assist in ensuring client tax accounts are compliant, resulting in zero penalty assessments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES * Ensure compliance with client unemployment accounts. * Communicate payroll tax issues orally and in written form with internal service groups and clients. * Work reporting team emails that may be in a queue or Salesforce case and manage internal/external Salesforce cases meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLA's). * Process and pay multi-state and local tax deposits timely and accurate. * Coordinate printing/electronic filing of returns on behalf of clients, following up with correspondence or communication received from clients or governmental agencies. * Run payroll tax reports and verify information reported is accurate. * Analyze data at quarter/year end for accuracy and document as required for SOX controls and organizational requirements. * Audit up-to-date process document library. * Support business continuity plan (BCP) as key contact. * Train new hires and current team members on current processes * Adherence to all standardized procedures * Resolve escalated cases * Lead quarter end workflow processes in MasterTax * Observe and report all State issues to Supervisor * Take responsibility for continued self-development. * Other projects and responsibilities that may be added at Supervisor's discretion. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma Experience: Customer service, PEO experience and knowledge of payroll processing; 4-6 years' payroll tax experience desired. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills * Exemplary customer service skills.
