A career in our Tax Reporting and Strategy practice, within Innovation services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients' tax departments redesign, redefine, and redeploy tax to be a strategic asset across the enterprise. You'll focus on assisting clients incorporate increased automation in the tax reporting process, increase analytic capabilities through data integration, and create solid internal controls that will enable the Tax function to deliver better quality output and contribute more strategically to organisational decision making. Our team helps our clients expand the tax role to include research, analytics, and technologies to improve how their organisation collaborates and performs. You'll focus on enhancing the tax reporting process by incorporating increased automation, integrating quality data, developing analytic capabilities, and utilising technology to deliver better quality output in less time.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above

  • Be involved in the financial management of clients

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients

  • Contribute to the development of your own and team's technical acumen

  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges

  • Assist in the management and delivering of large projects

  • Train, coach, and supervise staff

  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Comprehensive knowledge of the tax issues facing multinational US companies or publically traded entities, with an emphasis on tax compliance and consulting services tailored to organizations with domestic operations and the goal of tax minimization. Working knowledge of FAS 109 and related software, Beta Management, Organization Design, Process Improvement, Controls, and Risk Management. Some knowledge of general tax. Working knowledge of FAS 109 and FIN 48.

Demonstrated experience identifying and addressing client needs: actively participating in client discussions and meetings; communicating a broad range of Firm services; managing engagements including preparing concise, accurate documents and balancing project economics management with the occurrence of unanticipated issues. Demonstrated experience as a team leader: creating a positive environment by monitoring workloads of the team while meeting client expectations and respecting the work-life quality of team members; providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner; and keeping leadership informed of progress and issues.

Tax Reporting and Advisory (TRA) Sr. Associate Position Summary: Grant Thornton's responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. The TRA Senior Associate works closely with staff on all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients. The Tax Senior Associate is primarily responsible for reviewing income and non-income based taxes, statutory income compliance and consulting, transactional taxes, transfer pricing documentation and evaluation, reviewing the tax flow and tax functioning of our client's operations, assisting in the evaluation and implementation of tax software and technology to increase efficiency as well as a variety of other job tasks depending on the engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget. * Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed. * Review tax returns done by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process. * Prepare tax returns for more complex income tax clients. * Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters. * Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. * Other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting. * CPA preferred. * Two to four years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience; experience in public accounting is a plus.
