Top Level Description of Role and Responsibilities and Purpose

The Tax Operations Associate Director supports company operations by maintaining tax office systems, managing the day-to-day work of the team by supervising the manager of tax administrative assistants, keypunch employees, tax specialists, and the file room employees in Maine and New Hampshire offices:

  • Supports firm culture by developing and training tax operations employees to promote a culture of client service; identify and act in a manner that helps and support professionals serve BNN clients.

  • Manages team job results by coaching and counseling employees, planning monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Maintains office staff by partnering with HR for recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.

  • Coordinates with the Manager of Tax Administrative Assistants and the tax operations team to consistently provide a high level of support to each POD and Pillar.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary education preferred with 5+ years of management experience

  • Experience in a Professional environment preferred (i.e. certified public accounting firm, law firm)

  • Adept at building internal and external relationships with a focus on client service

  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills, and strong written and oral communication

  • Facilitation and conflict management skills

  • Strong time management skills with high attention to details

  • Experience coaching and managing people to a high level of performance and retention

  • Awareness of cross regional office culture and willingness to travel 10%.

  • Ability to work overtime when needed

  • Experience with all MS Office applications including, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Position Requirements and Expectations

  • Thorough understanding of the tax business, including client service approach, tax processing, tax preparing standards for keypunch employees, all compliance procedures and software.

  • Collaborate with HR and Department Head to hire, train, manage seasonal operations employees including scanning, w/p organizers, and key-punch personnel.

  • Responsible for the coordination for various busy season tasks e.g. delivery coordination; extension processing support.

  • Reviews time sensitive reports to ensure that due dates are completed on time and accurately.

  • Provides executive administrative support to tax principals

  • Provides support to the Training Committee for intern training and mentoring program

  • Leader within TPP Committee

  • Responsible for keeping TPP Manual Current

  • Insures consistency throughout department of tax policies and procedures

  • Identify Cross Training Opportunities within tax operations team

  • Develop/maintain a collaborative culture in which team members help each other, learn from each other and support each other when needed.

Director Workforce Management-Service Experience This position can be filled in the Midland GA, Roanoke VA, Albany NY, Portland ME, Cincinnati OH, Indianapolis IN or Reno NV office The Director Workforce Management-Service Experience is responsible for strategic direction and tactical leadership within Workforce Management to initiate, implement and effectively manage advanced workforce planning, optimization practices and methodology across Anthem FHPS Contact Centers. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: * Directs development and execution of organizational forecasts and capacity planning. * Partners with Anthem stakeholders to ensure workforce budgets are in place to meet forecasted customer needs and contractual commitments. * Conducts operational review meetings to review forecast and performance variance; provides proactive analysis, presentations, and strategic recommendations for driving business improvements. * Sponsors integrated workforce support, driving standardization of processes, scale and efficiency in the workforce management. * Creates criteria for WFM evaluation systems, evaluate effectiveness of existing and proposed workforce management activities. * Ensures that effective technology solutions are utilized consistently. * Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement; researches, develops, and implements related best practices; develops metrics to track performance and goal achievement, documenting business requirements, and modifying business workflows * Supports Staff Vice President of Strategy and Operation Directors in the development of business implementation strategy, production standard plans and monitors post-implementation outcomes * Ensures operations staffing and reporting areas are aligned to support metrics to maximize PIP potential * Performs other duties as assigned * Management responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching, counseling and evaluating performance of direct reports. * Requires BS/BA in business, statistics or a related field or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background * 5+ years direct management in workforce management * 5+ years of experience in a call/claim service center environment * Experience working with call center software (Genesys, VSS, EVP) required * Experience with creating and implementing capacity/staffing models across multiple operational areas (call, claim, medical management) required * Experience developing and modeling operational production and staffing standards across multiple operational areas (call, claim, medical management) required * Ability to manage multiple, complex, on-going tasks and projects required * Strong organizational, problem solving and teamwork skills required * Aptitude for detail-oriented work and the ability to lead a virtual team required * Presentation skills required * Agile, PMP, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement Practitioner certification preferred * Programming experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access including Visual Basic preferred * Business Objects and Tableau experience preferred * MOST, MODAPTS, or Time Study certification preferred * Ability to travel required Anthem, Inc. is ranked as one of America's Most Admired Companies among health insurers by Fortune magazine and is a 2018 DiversityInc magazine Top 50 Company for Diversity.
