Tax Accounting Manager will support the Fortive tax provision including annual and quarterly tax provision consistent with the requirements of ASC 740, drafting external disclosures and tax accounting strategies. This role will also include significant work with purchase accounting and acquisition tax integration due to the highly acquisitive nature of the company, assisting with global tax provision technology and tax accounting strategies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reduce financial statement risk

  • Responsible for reviewing, and assisting with computing and maintaining worldwide provision for interim and year-end global tax provision

  • Drive automation of all tax accounting requirements, in alignment of current automation initiative

  • M&A Integration of tax accounting requirements

  • Research and document issues relating to tax accounting

  • Review and assist with computation of tax items for purchase accounting, including 141R

  • Assist in preparation and review of US and foreign deferred tax accounts tax accounts

  • Partner with various teams in order to meet ASC 740 reporting requirements

  • As required completion of projects in alignment with Sox requirements and documentation

  • Support driving projects related to implementation of Global Tax changes or implementation solutions designed to close the gap with tax systems opportunities (direct and indirect)

  • Liaison and manage global relationships with key stakeholders and business partners

  • Ensure projects remain on track with timing and costs - while engaging leadership as needed with potential risk to completing successfully

  • Work on special tax projects

  • Maintain Tax basis balance sheet

Coordinate and review tax provision process with outsource partner and overall company

  • Review income before tax forecasts & prepare forecasted taxable income estimates as needed

  • Review FIN 48 accruals

Review valuation allowance in conjunction with overall company analysis Ensure compliance with tax related Sarbanes - Oxley internal controls

  • Maintain operating tax accruals

  • Review and approve tax account reconciliations

  • 10 years of corporate or public accounting with relevant tax experience with a focus on tax accounting and financial accounting (Big 4 experience strongly preferred).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business/Accounting Required

  • Master's Degree or CPA preferred

  • Process architecture experience with in driving efficient and tangible solutions

  • Comprehensive understanding and hands-on application of ASC 740 including current expense, deferred tax assets/ liabilities

  • Knowledge of Federal forms 1120, 5471, 8858, etc. & State income tax filings Experience with foreign tax filings a plus

  • Ability to not only identify risks and opportunities, but also the ability to design solutions to mitigate.

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in tax accounting

  • Broad knowledge and experience in all areas of tax compliance and reporting

  • Ability to research tax issues and implement changes needed to comply with existing tax laws or new tax legislation

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management and all functional and operational teams

  • Ability to recognize tax implications of transactions and to plan and implement steps needed to minimize tax and appropriately report

  • High level of demonstrated technical proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Absolutely must have outstanding organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Successful working independently and as a member of a team

  • Desire and ability to provide coaching and mentoring to staff (tax analysts, contractors, interns) to contribute to the continuous development and success of our team Advanced oral and written skills

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as the US Indirect Tax Manager for Fortive/ASP. In this role, you'll play a part in building the foundation of the organization and helping 'stand up' Fortive/ASP. Your Impact As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for tax planning and compliance activities in the US with key deliverables to: minimize indirect tax such as sales tax, service tax, excise duty, etc.; ensure timely compliance reporting; effectively manage and develop internal tax staff; and serve as an internal expert to deal directly with customers and tax authorities on tax related matters. Here's where you'll demonstrate your competencies: * All aspects of indirect taxation within the company and all subsidiaries, including planning, reporting and compliance. * Developing effective, legal tax strategies to minimize the overall tax burden of the consolidated group of companies and minimize overall costs associated with the tax function. * Analysis, planning, and compliance relating to domestic tax compliance. * Developing, evaluating, supporting, and documenting all intercompany pricing between subsidiaries. * Evaluating and implementing Fortive Corporate tax initiatives. * Dealing directly with all auditors and responding to tax issues raised by tax auditors. * Performing due diligence and scope tax exposure for proposed US acquisitions. * Managing outside tax consultants and advisors. * Taking required actions to continuously improve, deploying Fortive Business System (FBS) tools appropriately. Our Needs Here's what we'll need you to bring to the organization: * 8 years of progressive work experience in a similar industry's corporate tax department and/or a public accounting firm, with a strong knowledge of tax planning, tax compliance, and tax return preparation for U.S. geographies. * Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required. MBA or Master's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred. * CPA designation required. * Experience in all aspects of indirect tax (e.g., compliance, controversy, tax accounting, process improvement) * Strong knowledge of taxation relating to US based multinational companies with focuses on manufacturing operations and research and development. * Skilled in developing and analyzing tax planning and tax minimization strategies.
