State and Local Tax (SALT) Managers serve as members of various client service teams. Managers must possess strong technical knowledge of state and local jurisdictional tax planning, consulting, and compliance work.

In addition to working with the Commercial and individual compliance professionals in reviewing state tax returns, Managers participate in identifying client issues and communicating with key client personnel. Managers must possess and maintain strong written and oral presentation skills, conduct research on various client issues, and supervise Senior Associates, Experienced Associates and Associates.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree preferred;

  • Advanced credential required (i.e. CPA, JD, or IPT certification);

  • At least 5 years relevant work experience with an accounting firm, including at least 3 years of State and Local Tax experience;

  • Leadership and organizational skills;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural facilitator;

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; and

  • Proficient use of technology including MS Excel.

S. Clients include both SEC and closely held corporations, along with high net worth individuals in a variety of industries. They are a great alternative to the Big 4 for prospective Partners, Managers, Seniors and Staff, as well as clients seeking more personalized service. They do not maintain a high stress, demanding corporate culture, and employees are not treated as a number or one of the masses. Work environment is not at all typical of the public accounting grind and they offer a <strong>very reasonable work/life balance</strong>. S.citizens, Permanent Residents, or active holders of transferable H1 or Canadian TN visas.</p>   <p> </p>   <p>The Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all clients' SALT tax returns. Advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas, along with well developed and applied management and supervisory skills are required.
