What does a Tax Manager do at Rinnai?
The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring all income, property, and sales & use tax filings are submitted in a timely and accurate manner and that all payments are submitted as required. This position works closely with the external tax team to understand tax requirements and provide necessary data and analysis. The Tax Manager will lead tax related projects including evaluating and implementing tax systems as needed.
What you will do:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the external tax team to prepare, submit and pay direct and indirect corporate taxes:
Federal, state, and foreign income tax
Multi-state property tax
Sales & use tax
Gather, validate, and submit data to the external tax team and respond to questions and follow up requests.
Strategize with the external tax team to legally reduce overall corporate tax liabilities and identify areas of risk.
Ensure deadlines are met and extensions filed to prevent fines and interest charges.
Manage and respond to tax notices and requests for payments.
Ensure required payments are approved and processed by Finance and submitted to tax authorities.
Track and submit manual filings as required.
Monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations.
Manage and facilitate tax audits as needed.
Manage tax related projects in conjunction with the external tax team.
Assess sales & use tax requirements for the service and projects business to determine correct sales tax treatment and if a sales & use tax system is required to be implemented. This includes managing the process to select and implement the system.
Support the implementation of an international APA agreement with the parent company.
Support acquisition integration from a tax perspective.
Participate in the project to transition the Canada legal entity from a cost center to a fully functioning subsidiary including assessment of tax implications, and collections and remittance processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's degree in tax, accounting or finance required
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a corporate tax position
Strong understanding of US and Canada tax laws
Knowledge of Mexico or Caribbean country tax laws would be a plus
SKILLS
Extremely detail oriented, accurate, and able to complete assignments on time.
High level of organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Analytical, flexible, and able to adjust to and learn new processes and procedures.
Strong people, analytical, and reasoning skills required.
Strong sense of, and compliance with, ethical standards
Excellent oral and written communication skills
ABILITIES
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive change.
Ability to multitask with competing priorities.
