The Tax Manager is responsible for preparing and analyzing tax records and reports; processing local, state, and federal tax returns and prepare claims for tax refunds. In addition, the Manager completes statistical and financial reports and participates in the organizational strategic development of the department.

We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our team. As a Manager, our principal group will provide you with unique insights into how to build a successful practice and execute Tax engagements for our diverse clients. This opportunity will enable you to actively participate in the growth of our Tax Department to expand the business, by establishing new client relationships and building client trust. You will be influencing strategic organizational development through review and assessment of systems and processes, identifying refinements to establish best practices, and participation in the development of future leaders. The Tax Manager performs related duties at the professional level and to ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality tax services relating to the day-to-day operations of the department. The Tax Manager is responsible for preparing and analyzing tax records and reports, processes local, state, and federal tax returns and prepares claims for tax refunds; completes statistical and financial reports; maintains tax records and prepares miscellaneous tax studies, reconciliations, journal entries, and records. The Manager provides assistance, training, supervision and review, regarding the work of other Tax Accountants and participates in business development and client care.

What you will be doing...

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles and attains specialized knowledge in at least 2 areas of individual or business taxation

  • Review and preparation of individual and business taxes (1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, and 1065)

  • Initiates and reviews consulting engagements

  • Represents clients during tax exams; understands appeal and settlement process, penalties and interest.

  • Responsible for billing and collections on assigned clients

  • Initiates client contact for proactive services; maintains professional relationships with assigned clients; develops additional services from existing clients

  • Supervises and mentors other accountants to develop their skills and expertise

  • Assists the department Principals in the strategic development of the department

  • Presents in-house training on basic tax topics

What will set you apart...

  • In-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles, estates and trusts, and specialized knowledge in at least 2 areas of individual or business taxation.

  • General knowledge of payroll tax issues that may impact assigned clients.

  • Detailed knowledge of property taxes, excise taxes applicable to assigned clients.

  • Familiar with general bookkeeping packages (Peachtree and/or QuickBooks); can make recommendations to clients' base on their needs.

  • Proficient with Profx and AuditVision/linking techniques.

  • Ability and initiative to develop improvements to existing systems and processes.

What you will need to be successful...

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

  • CPA Certified, current license required.

  • A minimum of five years' work experience in public accounting.

  • Non-Profit experience required.

  • Experience supervising and mentoring other tax accountants.

  • Experience with client relationship and engagement management.
